This is some of the best FOOD I have ever tasted in my 60 years. I travel a lot and have eaten at both high end and low end places and places a HIGH value on food quality, recipes and techniques, and am usually more blind to my surroundings. I got the Double Chicken Kabobs, with grape leaves, Greek Salad, and hummus as the three sides. I paid $11.99 for an enormous amount of high quality freshly made food. The chicken hit every note I could have hoped for. Amazing! The hummus was the creamiest and best I've ever had. The tzaziki sauce fresh with a little bit of a beautiful sour bite. The salad and the dressing(!!!!!) is incredible. The fresh pita bread was soft, perfect consistency, so I made miniature gyros (my beautiful partners idea) out of the chicken, salad, tzaziki and hummus, each bite set every tastebud and mouth feel nerve completely into overdrive. My partner got Beef and Lamb Shawarma with salad, saffron rice (!!!!!) and fries. The only average food was the fries. The seasoning, tenderness, flavor of everything else out of this world. Then, the Pistachio Baklava. Holy Mary and all the Apostles!! It hit every note I expected and then took those notes and wrote a symphony. The staff, from the chefs to the register and even the family owner were out of this world friendly. This isn't just the best Middle Eastern and Greek food restaurant I've ever experienced, but one of the top 5 food experiences I've ever had. Their target date for the opening of their bakery and Middle Eastern coffee shop is first quarter of 2024, and I am excited for this, based on their delivery of food.
The dining room is basically that of an old cafe, the building less impressive and the bathrooms were, well, mostly inoperable and old fashioned gas station-ish. This is a huge area for improvement.
Please, please, turn a blind eye to the back and the restrooms, expect no more than a cafe seating dining room experience, and prepare your mouth for incredible and extremely high...
Read moreThe food is great. But, the customer service is terrible! I would drive to Greensboro about 30 miles just to order the Lamb Chops meal with three sides. It runs about $23.00 dollars plus tax. Well if you are a person that speaks proper English. You better make sure the guy(possibly owner's son) understands you correctly and have them repeat your order back to you before finalizing the order transaction! I would come in often whenever I’m in Guilford County and order the same thing every single time. This time he mistakenly messed up the order and act as if it was my fault instead of correcting it. I ordered Lamb Chops and he sold me Lamb kebabs. I told him that's not what I ordered and he looked at me as if he didn’t understand my American English? I spoke to his father(the person who the cashier directed me to) and the only thing he kept saying to me was “Brother” as if we were related? I just wanted them to take two orders of Lamb kebabs back and give me what I ordered which was the Lamb Chops meal. I offered to pay the difference in price with no problem. He took one meal back but would not take the other! Poor Customer Service! Maybe, the new African girl he was training as a cashier a few day ago will be better with customers service then the owners son was with me. I spoke to a young lady who is Palestinian and she was telling me about another Middle Eastern Restaurant in Greensboro NC. that has great food and the atmosphere is amazing as well as the customer service! They Also...
Read moreWOW!! What an incredible experience. We loved it. While we didn't know what to expect, they people and the food far exceeded what we thought we might find!
We didn't realize that it was going to be a "order at the counter and they bring it to you" type restaurant, and the look of a grocery store when we walked in was confusing, but don't let that stop you. Take a moment to read the menu from the menu chalkboards, and step up and order. You won't be disappointed.
The food is great, and the portions are LARGE. We ordered the mixed grill with chicken kebobs, lamb kebobs and adana (little hamburgers made from lamb and beef). They were all very good. Humus, tabouli and the salad rounded out a great meal, and we left stuffed.
We told them it was our first visit when we ordered, and Niemi (sorry if I spelled it wrong) decided we needed to try the baklava, at no charge. I was so impressed, that I went up to tell the older gentleman at the register, Majer, (which is her father), gave me some of the coconut cookies to try as well.
While some may not prefer the lack of "ambience" or "atmosphere," the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff has won us over.
We have decided to celebrate my husbands 50th Birthday there, and that is a story for an entirely separate review. We will keep you posted on how that goes. We are looking...
