This is it. Stop trying to decide where to eat, you've found it. It's Habibi's of Greenville. It's a family place, where you are considered part of the family. The owner, Andy, and his beautiful family consistently produce some of the best Mediterranean food in the area.
Everything is made to order, directly in front of you. If you are unfamiliar with the menu, all of the staff are exceptionally friendly and will take time to explain the options.
I highly recommend the lamb gyro plate, which is slow cooked on a skewer and then cut into chunks. It comes served over rice or lettuce and topped with seasoned onions, garlic sauce, and tahini. It comes with two sides of your choice, I recommend hummus and salad, or tatziki.
But there are many other options. You have only three basic decisions to make when ordering:
What kind of protein do you want? Lamb, beef, chicken, or fallafel?
And how do you want it served? Over rice, over lettuce, in a wrap, over fries, or on pita?
Finally, which two sides do you want? Hummus, baba ghanoush, salad, tabbouleh, grape leaves, pickled cabbage, etc. You could play it safe with fries, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you are loading them up with other toppings.
The only bad decision you can make when ordering is to decline to add toppings and sauces. Some of the meats, the chicken shawarma especially, can get a little dry when cooking on the vertical spit and greatly benefit from the tahini & garlic sauces. The chicken kebab however is made to order and does not typically dry out in the same way. Also you will be missing out if you decline the seasoned onions. Trust me, you need some sumac in your life.
Do not come to Habibi's expecting to be waited on with full table service. It is cafeteria style service with a open kitchen where you order your food, watch the preparation, then pay and sit in the adjacent dining area.
Do come to Habibi's expecting to be greeted as family, served generous portions, and to have great tasting freshly prepared food. It is by far my favorite restaurant in Greenville and I recommend it...
Read moreMy review below and the pic with all the amatory is from 2 years ago. I just learned today that Andy the owner isn’t there anymore it’s under new owners. I paid $86 for the pic of mostly rice. I paid $95 for the pic with all the meats and rice 2 years ago. Along with the meats and rice 2 years ago the previous owner would fill a platter with all the sides.
Today this happened:
From past experiences I never would have expected to pay $86 for a platter of rice (pretty much) I asked to speak with the new owner and he was rude acted like he couldn’t hear me and refused to apply more meat to the order. He literally asked how many were eating like Andy use to before giving us our food. I said 7 kids and 4 adults. He acted as if he was gonna do like the previous owner and appease his customer. I had to come back because it was all rice. I said “if you put the those 11 chunks of chicken together it doesn’t matter even amount to a full chicken breast, I said that’s robbery”. He wouldn’t budge. So to everyone reading this at the time of me writing this it was over 3,000 people who have viewed. Everyone and anyone, I encouraged you all to visit before but now that the owner isn’t the same I beg of you if you want to spend money on a bunch of rice then go ahead and visit. I hope you all have a blessed day and. Please beware of this place he’s scamming people out of their hard earned money don’t get scammed like I did. He’s insensitive and rude to women (I’m a woman) I apologize for the long review please look at the pictures for proof.

Read moreUpdate: We drove all the way to Greenville just to visit this amazing restaurant. The owner wasn’t there but his son was very welcoming as well as the staff with him! We ate there and we also ordered take out so that we can eat this delicious food at home. Even if it was reheated, it’s still so delicious!
Overall, I highly recommend visiting this Mediterranean cuisine restaurant for a delicious meal and friendly service. We will definitely be returning in the future.
BEST MEDITERRANEAN restaurant of Greenville! This is a must go to if you ever plan on visiting Greenville. Owners and staff are so friendly and welcoming! We are an hour away from home and we decided to try Habibi Mediterranean Grill. The restaurant is so clean and the owner really knows his customers so well. The owners and staff really accommodated us throughout the entire dining to make sure we have a good first time experience. The food is so generous and is very reasonably priced. My husband got the lamb gyro and he highly recommends it. I got the Habibi Mixed Platter with chicken and lamb, it is sooooo delicious. I normally don’t order lamb but this restaurant got me to it. Everything is so well seasoned since I know some Mediterranean restaurants really season everything but in this restaurant everything is so well balanced! The spices complimented the food. I’d say we are definitely coming back here even if it’s an hour away! If you haven’t tried Mediterranean cuisine, I highly recommend coming here to it and especially if you LOVE Mediterranean...
