My family and I tried Lovey’s ice cream today for the first time after hearing great things about her and the ice cream. We got there and ordered our ice cream. We did notice the cross contamination with the same scoop being used with all the ice creams and hands touching cash/debit cards and not washing them and grabbing ice cream cones right after. I also found a hair in my ice cream and brought it to her attention quietly and respectfully.. she told me I was wrong multiple times and argued with me, took the ice cream and dug the hair out with a spoon on a napkin and tried to dig around and find it… it was obviously her hair. Mistakes happen with hair so we weren’t upset but just wanted a remake so we asked if we could just get a new scoop and she said no multiple times and would not remake our $3.50 ice cream. After her telling us it was just “chocolate” in a m&m ice cream and NOT a long hair, we finally said we didn’t want a remake and we just wouldn’t pay for it. She shook her head at us the entire time telling us it was not a hair when it so clearly was.. even after we paid she continued shaking her head. She was just very rude. We definitely won’t be back… overall an...
Read moreWe witnessed cross contamination practices with using ONE scooper to scoop all servings of various flavors containing nuts. They wiped the scooper with a dry paper towel (improper sanitation practice). Our child has a severe nut allergy and this is a public safety violation, that could potentially cause a major medical emergency.
We also witnessed a customer who was served ice cream with a hair in it. They quietly and politely informed the owner. She argued with them, wiped the top of the ice cream with a napkin and tried to give it back to them. They refused the ice cream (rightfully so). The owner took the ice cream and put it back in the cooler to serve to another unsuspecting customer. The ice cream should have been thrown away immediately. There were several other DHEC violations made, but these are two that must be shared. We will not...
Read moreThe ice cream wasn’t bad, however the customer service was the worst I’ve ever experienced enough so to never even consider coming back. The older lady working made my 6 year old so uncomfortable and scared. The lady working didn’t understand I wanted a small chocolate and a small strawberry. Only made a chocolate and when I asked for the second ice cream she got so angry and out of sorts. she was throwing her hands in the ait and talking to herself. She even called someone else on their phone and shoved the phone at me telling me to “tell her” no other words while shoving a phone at me. No one should be left in a store alone to serve customers if that’s how they behave....
