This is a nice clean looking restaurant and the pizza is pretty good. I went in, asked for a couple of slices, and I asked them to add some of the garlic knot oil onto the crust of my 2 slices. I received an affirmative answer and paid. As I finished paying one of the cooks. Calls out to me with a line behind me saying, "you asked for garlic oil on your crust well we don't do that. I'm going to do it this time but for future reference, we don't do that". I've been making pizza for 35 years or so and most, who try my pizza, say it's the best they've ever had, but this college aged fellow took it upon himself to warn me that in the future I would not be able to get pizza with garlic oil on the crust. I didn't say I wouldn't pay for it. I simply asked and was told yes. If I owned this place and I heard that one of my employees did that I would be a little bit disappointed with them. First, because the guy doesn't know pizza and secondly, he doesn't know how to speak to a customer. If I were to decide to be unwilling to brush a bit of garlic oil onto a paying customer's crust, I would have walked up to the customer and spoken with him quietly instead of across a large line of people. I suggest that everyone who goes in asks for that garlic oil on their pizza crust. You will not be disappointed as it will take the flavor from four stars to five. Update: Good news! The manager responded to this review and made sure the employees knew the policy. I went back and they added the garlic oil to my pizza without question and it was the same young man. So I'm going to up the stars and I'm so thankful to the owner for responding and doing something about my complaint. That is a rarity in this world and I think they deserve the 5 stars instead of 4. A little bit of humility...
Read moreThe service was slow, even though there were twice the number of employees than customers.
We were there for almost an hour in total. Not a single employee even tried to come out and actually clean the disgusting tables and floor.
The first 5 pictures are all different tables, and I didn't even go to the other side of the restaurant to take pics. But there were multiple dirty tables on the wall side as well.
As far as my stromboli is concerned, it was very good. Except for the fact that they served it to me on what I can only assume were the cheapest paper plates at Walmart. Which they then placed a single piece of waxed paper on, AND then they thought it was a good idea to cut my stromboli completely in half. So by the time I was almost done with one half, the juices released completely soaked both my bread, and the waxed paper. (What's the point of bragging about your bread being crispy, if the first thing you do is soak it in juice and make it dripping wet and soggy???)
So not only was half of my food basically ruined, but I had to pick small pieces of waxed paper off what I did eat.
After checking out the other reviews, I noticed that poor customer service, and lazy employees not cleaning, has become the normal. At least they're consistent......
I didn't finish my food, and most definitely won't...
Read moreFew guilty pleasures have survived our modern day and the trials we have all faced over the past few years... Michaelangelo's all-you-care-to-eat buffet is one of the last vestiges of what we loved about the 'before' time. Cost... Resonable. Taste... Better than a cafeteria-style served buffet at a college pizza joint should be. Your journey starts with (2) slices of pizza chosen from the pies layered before you in the glass presentation case, next you recieve a heap of [mostly] al dente spaghetti, smothered by a house prepared marinara that would make my Grandmother blush with approvall - all tied together with a selection of beverages. Then, eat and repeat. With (3) locations in the Greenville, NC area; just get in your car, drive there and bring your appetite. Note, small restaurants like these need our support and patronage to continue providing gastronomic options for eaters like us. Pro-tip, get the fried Mushrooms with ranch. Shout-out --- loved the collection of chef's hats today the staff donned! Such fun! Update: With food costs on the rise, I am literally amazed at the quality and quatity that Michaelangelo's still provides. Is it a bit more expensive than years past? Yes, but still well worth the trip....
