Panera Bread — Restaurant in Greenville

I placed an order online for delivery for a group meeting at the office. The food arrived on time, BUT there were no names or labels on the packages to tell us what they were or who they were for (I entered names for each person's order online). So, after trying to determine what everyone got, I realized that 3 of the salads THAT COME WITH CHICKEN ON THEM didn't have any chicken on them. So, I call the restaurant...SEVERAL times...never got a live person. It rang and rang and then disconnected. I tried to call the delivery driver, and the "call could not be completed". SO, I drive to the restaurant, located the manager, told him I needed 3 salads with CHICKEN ON THEM. Two of them were the Avocado Cobb Salads. After waiting about 10 minutes, he hands me a bag with salads in it. They had chicken on them, but they also had some other ingredients that didn't look right to me. He told me that they were the Southwest Cobb Salads. He said they don't have an Avocado Cobb Salad. YES THEY DO. It was on the menu. I showed him my receipt. He said he didn't know. So I just decided to cut my losses and leave. I won't be going back there for sure. TERRIBLE! We will never go to this location again. Rest was dirty ( floors and tables) as were the restrooms. Staff was not as friendly as you find at other locations. No greeting, no one to ask a question. Just order on the computer screen and wait. My husbandscsalad was missing the chicken and when he took bowl up to tell them they checked order, confirmed he was missing it on salad and then proceeded to dump a small cup onto the salad as he stood there. They said nothing and seemed annoyed. All the staff was behind that order counter prepping and no one was cleaning anything or attending to customers. People coming in for pick-up orders were confused and aggravated in trying to locate their orders, and some orders were plated to eat in by accident. Again, this is not our 'usual' Panera, and it was terrible. It was not just the weird lack of service or friendliness, either...the food just did not taste as good, either. It was haphazardly prepared and plated without much care or attention to what was ordered. It was NOT busy in the restaurant at all, but apparently, they had many take out orders to fill?? I recently visited a restaurant for the first time and ordered the broccoli cheese soup. It was surprisingly delightful and exceeded my expectations. However, the staff did not offer any options for the accompanying bread; they served sourdough, which, while a healthy choice, is not my personal favorite. Since I mentioned I was looking for soft diet options, I would have appreciated more flexibility in their recommendations.

For my daughter, the staff suggested a grilled cheese sandwich, but she was disappointed, mentioning that she often eats it at school and was hoping for something different.

Despite these minor setbacks, I thoroughly enjoyed the broccoli soup—it was truly exceptional. I also ordered a salad, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise. As someone who isn't accustomed to eating vegetables, I appreciated that there was no unpleasant aftertaste. The addition of a tangy dressing, possibly a type of sour olive oil, elevated the overall flavor.

While there’s room for improvement in terms of customer recommendations and bread options, the experience was enjoyable and a worthwhile...
