My fiancé and I treat ourselves to one upscale dinner date a month, and for July, we decided to use two $50 Bonefish Grill gift cards we’d been gifted. We visited on the 4th of July and, unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing meals we’ve had in years.
We were seated promptly and our server arrived quickly, but he had zero personality. When we asked our usual question — what his favorite dish was — he just stared blankly like a deer in headlights. Not the warm or helpful interaction we expect from a higher-end place.
The margaritas were actually fantastic — probably the only thing we both enjoyed. We ordered the calamari appetizer, which came out soggy and without any lemon. I had the grilled scallops and shrimp, swapping the seasonal vegetables for asparagus. The asparagus was great, but everything else? Not so much. Both the scallops and shrimp were overcooked, the rice was bland and slightly underdone.
My fiancé ordered the fish and chips — usually his go-to comfort dish — and after one bite said, “this is horrible.” The fries were somehow worse. He didn’t even finish his meal, which never happens.
After applying our gift cards and a $10 reward, we had $9.60 left on the bill. We both agreed we’d never return, so we gave the remaining balance to a mother and son at the table next to us. Ironically, as we were leaving, we heard the mother — who had ordered the same dish I did — telling the manager her scallops were raw. When asked if she wanted a replacement, she said, “No, I’ve lost my appetite.”
We had high hopes, but Bonefish Grill seriously missed the mark — both in food quality and overall experience. Definitely not worth it, even...
Read moreVery disappointed. Major foodie here and all I have to say is that the service and food were very mediocre. I am using the word mediocre nicely. First off, the side salad is not worth it. It comes with lettuce, tomatoes, and sun flower seeds. I felt like I was eating lettuce and dressing without any real flavor. I was willing to forgive the salad thinking that my dinner would be outstanding. I ordered one of the starred items: meaning that it isone of their signature dishes that stands out at Bonefish Grill. The Tilapia. My dish came out with the wrong side and was cold. I had over heard the server tell someone that we were not ready for our food, because we had just received our salads. I am guessing that they set our plates back in the window for 15 minutes before bringing them out. I let them know my meal was cold and two minutes later received my fish that I could tell had been reheated in the microwave. If anybody has ever worked in the kitchen in a restaurant we all know that you do not reheat peoples food in the microwave. This is a big no no! So, I see the manager pass by our table a couple of times since my complaint was made. He made no acknowledgement of the cold food or to stop by and see how are meal was going. Our $70.00 check came out without any discount for the horrible food. I can not reiterate enough times how disappointed I was with my experience. I expect great service and amazing food and neither were accomplished. I will...
Read moreThis place is nice enough, maybe trying to be a bit too upscale for a "grill". Prices are just ok with most selections around $18 and above. Dinner does not include a salad. Portions are on the smaller side. Wait time on Saturday night wasn't too bad at a half an hour, recommend reservations though but even with one people waited for a table. They actually have a waiter just for the waiting area serving drinks so I can see why having everyone wait for a bit can drive up cocktail revenues. The dining room is very crowded with tables sitting close by and not enough room to walk between some. Server was very good and made sure we were happy. The only issues we had was the special that was ordered was not considered an entrée and we were charged full price when a bowl of soup was ordered with it. The second issue was the crab cake that came with the steak and crab cake dinner. For some reason they thought putting a bunch of cayenne pepper in it would make it better, NOT. Enough pepper to make someone cough for five minutes. We brought this to the attention of the manager who apologized and then left. Considering the crab cake was not edible to the customer he did nothing to remedy the situation. We left feeling we didn't really matter that we return again by the manager. The manager spent a great deal of time with a table of guests who were loud and had no problem cussing. I guess they were more important. Although we enjoyed most of the food we probably won't return...
