My friend and I made a reservation for this establishment. We checked out the website in advance to take a look at the projects, but wanted to see samples in person as well. When we go here, the hostess was kind and explained everything to us and directed us to the back for the girl at the craft area, stating she would assist us and answer any of our questions. We got to the back of the small room, and the girl at the crafts area asked us to step out of line if we were not sure what we wanted to do. We were still trying to decide and wanted to know if they had other stencils for us to see. While standing in line, we learned that they have a whole catalog for people like my friend and I to look at. When it was our turn again, I asked to see the catalog and the girl proceeded to abruptly hand it to me and barked at us to step out of line again. My friend and I complied, again. The third time in line, we were at the front and not even acknowledging us, barked at us to sign the waiver sheet if we hadn't yet and walked off to help other customers. I am not sure why the girl was so rude with my friend and I. We really would have appreciated some guidance and would have liked a friendly person to answer our questions. We did not receive this here and we canceled our reservation and left. I will not be returning to this establishment and if you are indecisive about what you would like to do, beware, you might receive the same rude service we did. This was not acceptable, especially when you will easily drop $50+ dollars...
Read moreDenver's creative spirit knows no bounds, and that extends to the way we unwind. Enter Upstairs Circus! We visited Upstairs Circus, DTC for a girls' morning of tapping into our inner artists.
We arrived and were seated in the main crafting area at a long table by the bar. Upstairs Circus was a fun, social atmosphere with over 25 different art projects to choose from. It was a "DIY Workshop Meets Bar," - from leatherworking to jewelry making, there was something that each girl wanted to create. Upstairs Circus' kind & attentive staff was there to guide us through the process.
Before we began crafting, we grabbed drinks - what would a creative outlet be without a little liquid inspiration? Upstairs Circus boasted a menu of fun cocktails that complemented the artistic vibe along with a selection of beer & wine.
The majority of us decided to create DIY custom concrete coasters. The kits were comprehensive, offering everything needed to create four unique coasters. And the best part? They allowed for endless personalization, from color-blocking to stenciling.
We dove into the project. We mixed the concrete, poured it into molds, and let it cure. One of the highlights was the customization process. We all tried out different paints, stencils, and textures to create coasters that reflected our styles - an artsy adventure that created lasting memories...
Read moreI've been to Upstairs Circus once before and enjoyed it, but this time, we went on Mothers Day, and that was a mistake. It felt like they oversold seats... we were so cramped at our table that we could hardly fit our projects, much less work on them. It was so hard not to bump the person next to you, and there was hardly any room for drinks. Although the staff was polite and friendly, they seemed overwhelmed getting project materials to people and we ended up getting things out of order- for instance, we had already started painting our boards before they handed out sand paper and I had outlined my whole project on the transfer paper struggling to see it on my dark background before someone came by and said they had white transfer paper!🤦♀️ Needless to say, we were unable to finish in our allotted time, but the staff sent us home with plenty of extra materials. I would go back, but likely not on a weekend or holiday. It's a great concept, but difficult to execute when it's that crowded (which makes it hard to justify...
