KFC — Restaurant in Gretna

This location is KFC/Long John Silver, but really needs to drop the LJS. They don't offer anything close to what a real LJS offers. No hush puppies, despite it being shown & offered on the menu. They don't offer real fries, just potato wedges. Despite the menu showing real fries, and even the KFC menu shows and says "fries" not potato wedges. And potato wedges don't cut it if you are looking to get fish & chips(French fries).

So I ordered fried fish & shrimp, hush puppies & fries. Was told they no longer offer hush puppies that I will receive biscuits (KFC biscuits) instead. Was told that it would take 4 min because the fish is cooked fresh. (Fine, don't mind waiting on fresh cooked fish)

Got back to my house, fish was burnt & they forgot my 2 orders of fries (well potatoes wedges).

Called the manager and explained. Was put on hold. Manager came back on to explain that the fish was cooked fresh. I said "I know, it's still burnt though."

Took the fish back, they apologize. And proceed to cook more fish. I wait again for "fresh" fish.

I see the manager talk to an employee before I receive my fish (looking at my new fish). Manager comes to me , explaining. "Our shortening needs to be changed, probably tomorrow. But if you're still not satisfied with the fish, I can give you a credit for tomorrow after we change out the shortening."

So I look, burnt again!

They were really trying to serve me burnt fish again!!

I told them I'm not going to wait until tomorrow for more fish. I need a refund . But they can't refund my credit card. They can only give me cash.

What a pain! Stop trying to be a Long John Silvers, just stick to what, I hope, your good at......

So I pull up to the drive thru after leaving class at 9:05 pm. I ordered a classic chicken sandwich. Upon receiving my order, I noticed the bag did not have the same weight as the bag I’d ordered last Thursday. I get home (15 miles ) away, undress, use the restroom, tear open the bag and when I attempted to remove the pickles, to my surprise….there was 2 baby tenders on my bun. I immediately called…of course one of the 4 workers would answer…so I pulled up…the manager (dressed very raggedy) comes to the window after I blowed the horn to get all 4 workers attention from something they were looking at in the wall…she steps up and I told her that I asked for a classic chicken sandwich not a chicken tender sandwich. She turns to the other workers and say..who made this sandwich??? The worker that had her cellphone to her ear yelled…”just get her another one”…I’m pretty sure…she was the dummy that made it like that was okay. Anywho…I’m currently sitting outside pulled up to the side door waiting for the. To get it right…well they’ve just handed me the poor excuse for a sandwich…this is my fault though…I was here a few years ago…yes a few years…that time I’d come in..the cashier handled my money and then turned around…put hand sanitizer on..did not let it dry and began to prepare my food. Of course my food smelled like wet hand sanitizer …when I complained to the manager…he defended her…so from now on…I’ll be going to high dollar chick Fi la or...

Having been to this LJS-KFC location several times, I feel pretty confident in my ability to rate it as a habitual user. As others have mentioned, they don't have LSJ sides, only the sides you'd find at KFC. Bad if you're jonesing hush puppies.

The bigger issue here is the constant wait. I've waited for both chicken and fish. As for the staff attitude, I can take it or leave it. I understand that food service is frustrating. So is waiting in your car for ten minutes while your food is being prepared.

My advice: go only if you really want something here. Otherwise, the folks at Popeyes are friendlier, Taco Bell is faster, and there are several of these located on the West Bank.

EDIT: I did receive some hush puppies with this order. Added star reflects this.

Update: tonight I went to this location in hopes of getting some fish. I pull up and order around 8 o'clock and I am told that LJS closes "early". When I ask what time the attendant just said early. The worst part about this is that I can't even complain to corporate about this store.
