Do you frequent the Grosse Pointe Communities? Do you like oddly located party stores? Do you have an affinity for hand made italian subs?
WELL DO I HAVE THE PLACE FOR YOU!
I am a huge lover of italian sandwiches. If it's on a menu, I order it. When I moved to the East Side, I was told that Bommarito's is the quintessential italian sub location. While I thought they were good, they were not on the top of my list.
Cut to visiting a friend for her birthday. There was a party sub calling my name in the corner. As I approached it I noticed something strange. I've never encountered this sub before. Now it really doesn't look any different than any italian sub, the delicious scent it gave off told me that I was in for a treat. I took myself a slice and immediately fell in love. I ran to my friend to ask her, "Hey friend, where is this sandwich from? This is amazing!". "Mister A's Party Shoppe on Mack" she replied.
And that my fellow Yelpers, is the story of where I found the 2nd best Italian Sub I have ever had in my life.
But in all seriousness, this place is great. Each sub has hand sliced to order meats, fresh bread, and toppings. They have a a nice variety of other foods from their deli counter as well.
The food is great and extremely well priced. My only complaint is that if you don't spend more than $20 on your credit/debit card, they charge you an additional $1 on your order. Seems a little ridiculous, but I guess I'll just call it the Sub Tax, which when put that way, makes it a...
Read morei was in to purchase a sub today. i walked to the back around 3 other customers "not wearing ppe" and said to myself dont people know social distancing and the owner said well people got to eat. I stated yes they do however their is take out and i do not believe lottery is a necessity during this crisis. the owner then got frustrated and became louder and stated so what i need to go out of business because you think people should be staying home. i said that is not what i meant at all, i am simply saying they need to take the proper precautions when out. i dropped it at this point cause the debate was not needed. he then remained rude when taking my order. i should have just walked out. after i walked to pay and no one was following the governors rule of social distancing again and was right on top of one another. i got to the register and asked for a item behind the counter and the clerk said they come as two when i asked for 3. i said can you sell 3. he said its either 2 or 4. i understand stress during this time however you do not need to be rude to customers. as the owner said he needs to be open to make money, i can tell you, because of the way i was treated and talked to, i will not go back. they have lost me...
Read moreThere's nothing I am going to say in this review that is going to surprise anyone who knows this place. It's an unassuming party store that excels in making top tier subs. I have been getting food from here for 25 years. The food is good because of the quality of the ingredients. My go-to's are a belly buster Italian (cold) or their chicken salad. Their Italian dressing is one of my favorites. It is a thicker consistency golden Italian that really compliments the sub well. This place is a popular spot at lunchtime for people from the hospital across the street or workers passing through. And with the owner being the one making the subs most of the time by himself, have some patience. It is worth the wait, I promise you.
If you have made it this far into the review congratulations! Your gift is a small bit of insider information. There are some off-menu subs that only insiders know about. I won't give you the names of them here, but if you seem like a cool person and ask the owner nicely, he MAY let you in on a few subs that are definitely...
