Review 3: Again- 5-Stars! Thank You ISSAC B & PHILIP! As Well as to: Noora & Aaron! Two years after my prior reviews, I went back to Grosse Pointe Geeks with an emergency phone call- (as an aside- I am Not a computer idiot, do visit sites not greenlit, - all data & back ups in place, firewalls, anti-virus, Malware etc.)- something highly unusual occured as I was shutting down my system: from prior knowledge- I knew not to shut it down if possible (this is a PC not laptop that I could bring into GPG). Near closing time for GPG- Issac B, from GPG got to my home. He was absolutely professional, helpful & courteous. We could not resolve the problem in my home. He gave gave me his assurance that he & the senior tech at GPG Philip would resolve: Long & Short- it was a total IOS (Windows-10) failure; that should not have happened- Philip, Issac & team at GPG were excellent- Philip in particular was outstanding, patient & absolutely GOT IT. Walked me through step-by step and showed me (not led me)- and file by file reloaded my CPU, found conflicting Windows issues with these Windows files and saved all critical while "fixing" what in my opinion should not have happened to begin with. Thank You Issac, Philip, and ALL GPG Team.
Review 2: I have to thank BRAD, the manager at Grosse Pointe Geek Inc., for his work and his staffing of the "GPG's" with such an outstanding professionally savvy and ethical team (RON, MILES & JAMES). After my first review of the "GPG's"- I went back to have critical programs and routines transferred to external hard drives specific to my career- this had to be done RIGHT. It was- Ron confirmed that my premium HP lap-top (just out of warranty!) was failing. We discussed options, but I was not in a position to cease urgent projects at hand. Long Story Short: In my 25+years of working with both my privately owned and corporately issued computers, I have never received such quantifiable truly exceptional service, expertise & advice. Forget The Big Store! The Grosse Pointe Geeks are right in our own "backyard"- with all the expertise, customer service and "old school" honest ethics of working with clients as people- not numbers. Review 1: Thank You Ron, at Grosse Pointe Geek Inc!!! After a Windows auto-download my computer opened with a run time error that would not go away- I researched the problem on line and determined that, while seemingly a "quick fix" - I may "screw it up"- and called The Big Store where I bought my system, printer, peripherals etc. they gave me a set price for a two-minute issue. I was referred to The GP Geeks, made a call, talked to Ron, he told me to just stop by. He made the repair gratis, in about 3-minutes (!). Me, as an "old computer guy" with my first system purchased in 1992. Ron was totally cool, polite, helpful, utterly professional without the supercilious "what now look" I'd received at The Big Store. We chatted about my system, and it was self-evident how expert The G.P. Geeks Inc. are. I now KNOW where I will be bringing my computer for upgrades and work. ...
   Read moreEpic fail from this place. If you are a business owner, or a pro user, this is not the place for you. If you can't figure out why Angry Birds won't load on your tablet, then perhaps they can help. But if you need to build a rig for doing high powered Photoshop gigs or video editing or other intensive use cases, run screaming from this place. They wasted nearly 2 weeks of my time pricing out a system. They took my money (100% deposit) and ordered the parts. The day before I was supposed to pick up my computer I got a call saying that I would have to sign a liability waiver in order to complete the purchase. They did not have any valid reason for this, nor did they produce this document so I could read it. Then they told me they were shipping everything back and we had to start over. It was like an episode of the Twilight Zone. This place has all the makings of an unwatchable low budget sitcom. I finally had to throw my hands in the air because I have been working in my industry for 25 years and have to build a new machine about every 2-3 years for myself, not to mention our staff. Never in that time has anyone tried to pull a stunt like this. So I trotted over to Micro Center after asking people where professionals shop, and I walked out with a far better build for $200 less and they had it ready in 48 hours. This is all so silly because I am a business owner and I prefer to support other local businesses. These guys could have gotten my entire agency's business and they gave me every reason not to ever return, plus inspired this thorough review which I am aware is adding to the giant pile of time these amateurs cost me.    Read moreI'm old enough to remember a time when business was about relationships, and sales and service always included being made to feel like my business was important, and that I'm appreciated as a customer. My experience with Grosse Pointe Geek in The Village has that old school feel, and I've always been treated well there.
Recently, I had some hardware issues with an older laptop, which required in-depth diagnostic work, replacement of a motherboard and hard drive, data backup and transfer to a new hard drive, lots of driver updates and tweaking for performance, as well as transferring all my old data to a new laptop and removing its bloatware. Throughout all of this I needed to make sure that I always had one laptop to operate my business, which meant lots of coordinating and communicating with one person.
For me, that person at Grosse Pointe Geek has been Issac Burgess; and though I've always been treated well by the rest of the staff (Josh, Ron, and Noora), Issac has been truly phenomenal. It's rare nowadays to find anyone in service who will work over and above the call of duty, but Issac's attention to detail, consistently timely communications, and followup to make sure that my needs were met reminds me of the way business was conducted 50 yrs ago.
