This is a small, comfortable restaurant with about a dozen and 1/2 tables indoor and a handful outdoor. The way they "socially distanced" the booths was eye-catching, but you have to visit cuz I won't spill the beans! The next thing that caught my eye was the varied items on the menu. From salmon to steak to sandwiches, the only way one can't find something to eat is if the weren't hungry! I settled on traditional meatloaf served with mashed potatoes and green beans. I asked if I could substitute something for the green beans and the server suggested a small stir-fry medley of veggies. I took her suggestion and the picture below was what was presented to me. 3 slices of meatloaf real mashed potatoes (including lumps!) and the veggies are a gorgeous site! Before the entrée I had a choice of three soups, two chillies or a side salad and wasn't disappointed with the meat chilli. They also had a pumpkin chilli to try, maybe another day! I rounded off dinner having to choose between FIVE different kinds of cake. I went with a piece of double-chocolate cake with a glass of milk. Sorry no pic of dessert. I only share dessert with my wife 😉 Aside from the in-person patrons, they were doing a brisk take-out business, both in-person and Doordarshan.

Above all, I enjoyed the family-like attitude the staff has. Nobody seemed to be "only" working for a check. It was refreshing to see staff intentionally working together for the benefit...

If I could rate this place 0, I would. First of all when you're seated be sure to look up! The fans have a large build up of filth. I'm certain it's been consumed by an unsuspecting customer or two. We've eaten here many times in the past and have never had a bad experience until today. My husband ordered fried eggs well done that came out very soft. The waitress took the eggs back. It was at least 15 minutes in addition to the 40 minutes we had to wait initially to be served. We were told there were alot of carry out orders. The eggs were unacceptable again. It appeared that the cook threw the same eggs back on the griddle. They were very hard fried with a plastic appearance. We told the waitress we were not paying for them. Instead of calling a manager, which is normally protocol she blew up. She took the order off the bill and slammed the bill on the table. Then in a very loud voice said have a nice day, I am! If that's not bad enough, she went back behind the counter to make fun of us in an audible tone in front of her coworkers, and the rest of the restaurant. I honestly can't remember having such horrible experience with wait staff anywhere. What's really terrible is that it appears from other reviews management condones this type of...

Came here by myself for a quick lunch, ordered a reuben and a coffee. Waitress asked me if I wanted it on rye bread, which I said yes of course. Brings out the sandwich and its literally just regular grocery store wheat bread they grilled, not rye. The pasta salad on the side was literally just a tiny ketchup cup with maybe 6 little noodles in it that tasted horrible, I ate one and just put it down. It was like that acidic regurgitation taste when you throw up a little in your mouth during a burp. But a pasta. And then the pickle wedge they gave me was rubbery and chewy with no taste, like chewing on the sole of a shoe. Also didn't finish that. I honestly don't know how you serve a pickle wedge from a jar wrong. Also, the waitress walked by after giving me this meal that could've been made better by a college student and winked at me which was a little unsettling. I'll give a 2 star because the sandwich meat was okay and they were generous with the thousand island dressing, but I'm annoyed that the whole meal plus a coffee cost me $20.33 including the 20% tip I still left them. Sometimes just because a dish turns out bad, doesn't necessarily mean the whole restaurant is. But looking at other reviews, it seems lunch sandwiches is not this place's...

Side Street never disappoints. No matter what we order, it is delicious, but we certainly have our favorite go to's. My partner always gets the breakfast burrito and adds the chipotle mayonnaise to the inside and on the side. (See photo.) I usually order the deli potato skillet or the quiche Lorraine. We ask for extra crispy home fried potatoes. My daughter claims the banana nut or chocolate chip pancakes are the best in the Metro Detroit area, and she always requests their cakes for her birthday. The coffee is delicious and plentiful, and the servers are friendly, funny, and accommodating. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait in a tight space with no seating, and the prices are higher than other breakfast places, but then again, it's high quality food that always delivers on taste. Also, I can only finish half my meal, so I get two meals for the price of one. Leftovers reheat well in a 350 oven for 10 minutes wrapped in aluminum foil. I highly recommend Side Street.

This is one of my favorite local places! The food is a bit pricey BUT it's fresh, they have awesome specials and sometimes the chef will make things not on the menu. The staff is always so pleasant and helpful. We come a few times for the Celtic menu that is is March. The Scottish meat pies are fantastic! You get 2 per order and they are big! I normally eat one and save the other one to eat later. The place is not big but it's always clean. The desserts are also amazing! My personal favorite is the cakes. They are always moist and tastes delicious and the buttercream is alwayssmooth and not too sweet. There are a lot of regular customers here which to me says good things about a place. We will continue to return.
