Cotton's Restaurant — Restaurant in Gulf Shores

Don't get the apple pie and ice cream desert. Just went to Cotton's this evening. My wife had the fried shrimp platter and it was very good. The baked potato was very good also. The salad was about average. I do want to mention the ranch dressing was very good. I had broiled grouper. The fish tasted very good but was slightly over cooked. The rice was OK. The waitress was very polite. OK, this is where it breaks down horribly. I ordered apple pie and vanilla ice cream for desert. The pie showed up looking very good. there was a bead of whipped cream along the top of the pie crust. I dug heartily into the whipped cream and crust and took a big bite and almost spit it out saying "blecch". The pie crust was really burnt to charcoal. I took one bite of ice cream to get the taste "sort of" out of my mouth. I flagged down someone and explained i wanted to send the desert back. He said "OK, you get a free desert and ate half of it" This was a complete lie and made me feel like a creep . He took the pie away and asked it I wanted something else and I said no. The waitress came by and I explained that the cook shouldn't have covered the crust with the bead of whipped cream. she said that she put the whipped cream on and that the pie's crust wasn't burnt.. OK, let me tell you all. The pie's crust was like charcoal and the covering of the whipped cream was to cammoflage it. I'm done with them. Atmosphere The restaurant is located on a second floor,it’s very quite. I went with my three active boys and was starting to get nervous as we were the loudest table in the restaurant Bathrooms were not clean, they didn’t smell good.

Service Only one waiter when we arrived then another one appeared . It was a bit slower at the beginning but she was very kind and smile all the time . There’s NOT happy hour here, if you want that you can go to Cobalt and have a $1.5 nice beer

Food We ordered crab cakes as a starter, they come 2 and they cost $10. They were Ok but not delicious, although my wife liked them more than me. Kids ordered chicken fingers and fries. To me the Fries were above average, and the tenders looks just fine. For the main course we ordered the Mahi and Flounder which they were on a board when you enter the restaurant Mahi was not well presented and it was very salty , I normally eat salty food but this one was above normal . Rice and the beans didn’t look good on that plate. With no offense it look to a dish you get in Picadilly restaurant, the difference is this plate cost almost $30. My wife liked the Flounder I personally didn’t it was too peppery and again for the price the presentation wasn’t not good.

Went to eat last night for a special occasion and honestly dinner was a disaster. Both parties ordered the same combination meal with the prime rib and king crab with baked potatoes. Only difference was the meat. One was to be well done and the other medium. The medium order came out as expected minus the charred baked potato. The well done order came out with the meat to be medium rare if that. The plate still had the blood from it setting. Waitress ordered a new steak to have it brought out. We had to request the current steak to be removed since it was making her sick to see. (Sight of blood makes stomach turn). Trying to still salvage the night tried to eat the baked potato, bit into it and it was burnt. At that point meal was ruined. She sat there with just her drink for the remaining of the meal. Waitress never came to attempt to even refill drinks, but asked if she could get us anything else when she brought the check, making sure to state that they graciously removed the other meal. Dinner ruined. Received 1 apology and it was from the lady at the counter when she was sought after. Will warn EVERYONE to NOT eat here. Was not worth the wait for even the meal that was prepared ok.
