Monster Subs & Sandwiches — Restaurant in Gulfport

So my girl just got out of a med appt n was a little loopy. We decided to try this place so she could get some food in her tummy. Neither of us had been in prior. Alot of information on their over the counter menu, sign with a special out front, other papers posted with menu items, sides, etc. Very confusing to me and I'm sober lol. Not a lot of people in there and we trying to figure things out n what we want. My girl taking longer than usual too but I'm guessing the dood with long hair was in a hurry n was tryna rush us along. My girl ends up ordering a 15.00 corn beef sammich even tho she kept trying to explain to them she wanted something small. I ordered the Italian after another employee explained that their special sign was for a hot dog and not a sub even tho it said 6" sub on the sign. Neither of us got chips or a drink. Total was almost 30 bucks. When long haired dood was making my sammich, he asked what would I like on it? I didn't even know there was a separate piece of paper taped up on the counter with their topping options so I said "whatever comes on it I guess". To which he tells me in a raised voice, "Nothing comes on it! You have to pick what you want". So now I'm arguing with the little voice inside me that he just a kid and that he doesn't need to come out into the parking lot with me. Maybe I should have listened to the voice and saved future customers the same horrible experience. Will never step back into that place. My girl only ate half of the 15 dollar corn beef. Let me start off by saying that the food did not disappoint and the two workers who made my sandwich were very helpful and patient with me as this was my first time visiting the restaurant. There were so many great options. Plus I had my husband on the phone as I was trying to order, which can annoy someone who is trying to assist you, but they understood why I was on the phone. As I was waiting on my sub, there was another gentleman on the register cashing out customers. I don't know if that is his personality or he was having a bad day, but he wasn't as friendly as the other staff. There is a strong possibility that he was the owner. I didn't check nor ask because I really wanted to taste the quality of the food. For that reason is why I didn't give a 5 star review. Will I visit Monster Sub & Sandwiches again, yup I sure will. You can't beat the quality or price of the food. Everybody have bad days going into work, but he wasn't overly rude, he was just not as friendly that day. Any other day he might just be the life of the party. I can't knock him for that. So anyone that is in town need to stop by and experience the Monster Sub, you won't be disappointed.

3/12/24 Update I did go back as stated in my previous post close to closing time because of the storms that rolled through on that day. The staff was so nice and inviting. There was a positive vibe flowing. I ordered a turkey and ham Monster sub and turkey and ham salad. Can I say didn't disappoint!!! My new favorite...

Let me start off by saying that I’m from South Jersey, not far outside of Philly, now living in central Mississippi. Every time I head down to the coast I immediately start looking for good places to eat. Cheese steaks, hoagies and pizza are probably the top three foods on my list that I miss from back home. I was in Gulfport for a work conference this past week and had visited my usual places until someone recommended Monster Subs! I am so glad they did. I ordered the Italian and was blown away by how close it was to an Italian hoagie from back home. These sandwiches are packed full of meat so you are getting your money’s worth! I’ve read other reviews and I understand not everyone likes that much meat on their sandwiches but sandwiches made like this are what I grew up on. Not that Subway junk. So if you’re looking for a great sandwich, I feel confident in recommending Monster Subs! I hate that it was my last day in Gulfport before I found this place, but I’ll be back!! The only downside for me is that I hate they’re only open until 5:00, I feel like 6 or 7 would be better to catch more of a dinner crowd and also because I could have gotten another sandwich on my way out!!
