So this was my first time at 5B’s BBQ and was severely disappointed! First, so many tables were full of dirty dishes and not being cleaned off, and it was not a labor shortage issue because several employees were pretty tied up talking to friends at the counter, one was flirting with a guy who walked in and spent a good 15 minutes with him. So we had to search for a clear table, there was only a half dozen tables being used, the rest were all dirty. Kinda sad because it doesn’t look like a terrible place and could be really nice. We placed our order and they brought out our food a little while later. They completely messed up the order and gave us wrong items. We told them and they apologized and said they would redo it all but we were hungry so we went with it. Well - the food we received was probably one of the worst meals we had in a while. The baked potato was not fully cooked, hard and Luke warm, the union rings were terrible almost like they just took them out of the freezer and microwaved them. The breaded chicken strips were deep fried, not that it’s a bad thing but the oil was old and must be used to cook multiple things so it had that very old burnt oil flavor and it was almost black on the breading of the chicken. Rule number one for all fryers is to keep your fry vats clean, don’t mix certain food items with the oils and change out the oil on a regular basis. We got a few bites in and just couldn’t do it and threw it all away. So, $45 bucks for a couple food items that were terrible and dirty tables all around, not a place I can say I recommend or one that I would ever go back to. Taco Bell is right across the street though, so there’s that.

We decided to try 5Bs BBQ based on other reviews and word of mouth, so we took the family out for a meal. The menu had a decent selection, though the kids' menu seemed a bit lackluster. For example, one chicken strip with fries for $8 felt overpriced. We ordered two brisket plates, each with two sides. I specifically asked for fatty brisket on mine, and we also got a two-meat plate with pulled pork and brisket for the kids to share, along with a grilled cheese from the kids' menu. The orders came out in a respectable amount of time, but unfortunately, the portions were less than expected. Both brisket plates were fatty, which was fine for me, but my wife did not enjoy hers as she had not ordered it that way. Oddly, the two-meat plate came with lean brisket instead. The brisket itself was moist and tender, but it lacked flavor. My wife ended up not eating hers due to the excess fat. The sides were a mixed bag. The fries and mac 'n' cheese were good, but the coleslaw had a strange aftertaste, and the potato salad was excessively wet and lacked flavor. The meat plates also came with pickles, fresh jalapenos, and pickled onions. While the pickles and jalapenos were fine, the pickled red onions were surprisingly bland. On a positive note, the kids enjoyed their meal, but overall, I wouldn't return or recommend this place. Despite the decent service, the food quality just didn't meet our expectations.

TL;DR: order at counter, bbq good for CO, warm inside, free parking Bright pink sign outside tells you that you’ve made it to 5 B’s. There is a small parking lot on site but street parking is free as well. You order at the counter and then sit dow. You don’t have a waiter/waitress so you get your own silverware and drink. I got the meat platter with ribs and the meat fell off the bone. It was good for BBQ in Colorado. I got baked beans, cornbread, and fries with it. The cornbread was recommended by the hostess and it was pretty good. My partner got the pulled pork tacos with a side of Mac & Cheese. It was a good amount of food. They have a spicy sauce on them so beware if you don’t do well with spice. Overall good experience however it was quite warm inside the building. Like most places in Colorado there wasn’t air conditioning and no overhead fans. There was outdoor seating but it was full when we got there.

Id imagine for being the only bbq in the middle of no where colorado, this satisfies the locals. Ive had texas bbq and I try not to judge based on that, however I myself am pretty decent at smoking ribs and brisket so I usually compare to what I can do. We tried the onion rings, fried pickles, wings, st louis ribs, brisket and chicken sandwhich.

Fried pickles were decent. 3 stars

Onion rings were average, a little too battered for my liking. 3 stars

Chicken wings were the highlight of the meal with their maddie sauce. Definetely big and juicy. 4 stars.

St louis ribs were completely fall off the bone, which I prefer them to hang on a little, but tear off easy. Also, they were pretty flavorless unfortunately, as if they had no rub pre cooking. 3 stars

Brisket was also pretty flavorless even though it had a nice smoke ring. The brisket wasnt dry, but it wasnt that pull apart either. 2 stars

Chicken sandwhich was MASSIVE and very juicy, the cold slaw wasnt too good that was on it which I feel like really would have pushed it into a 5 star sandwhich. 4 stars

I will say their prices are incredibly fair which almost makes me want to give it a 4 star overall, but I judge based on qaulity and flavor.

I think most people reading this would agree with the following statement. The difference between great bbq and mediocre bbq is great bbq doesnt require sauce and in most cases sauce would ruin it, while mediocre bbq needs the sauce. Unfortunately, this bbq...
