El Paraiso Family Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Gunnison

Unfortunately we had extremely horrible experience when dining in. The meal started out horrible from the appetizer to the meal. We ordered jalapeno poppers that tasted burnt and so overcooked there was no cream cheese left in the popper. We then move to dinner which was served to half the table then the other half was served their dinner about 10 minutes later. I personally ordered the taco and enchilada plate all ground beef the beef in the taco and enchilada tasted like potted meat and very soggy. Another person in our party ordered a chimichanga, which tasted of nothing but grease and had carrots and celery inside she recieved her sour cream and guacamole approximately 10 mins after getting her plate only because she reminded the waitress she needed them. That is not even the worst part of our experience we received our ticket granted we ordered adult beverages but our bill was $165.00 while reviewing the ticket found they charged our table gratuity for a table of 5 or more when there were only 4 in our party. When asking the manager why she said "hold on" went to tell the waitress to tell us we were changed that much because our ticket was more then $120. Which was posted no where within the restaurant 🤔. When the waitress came to explain she said I came to your table 5 times which was incorrect she cam to our table once and that was to bring the sour cream and guacamole. It was a absolute horrible experience and I will be calling the BBB to find out if they can legally charge gratuity for a ticker over $120 if we would have known that we would have split it in 2. I did not have a very good experience at this restaurant. First, we had to wait several minutes to be seated. We waited about 10 mins for our drinks to show up. 10 minutes later our server arrived to take our orders. My husband and I ordered the Super Burrito with steak. My stepson ordered a ground beef chimichanga, and my son ordered chicken fingers with fries. It took almost an hour before we received our food and there were not many people inside or out. When our food finally arrived, the steak in my burrito was so overcooked that it was like eating beef jerky. My sons chicken fingers were overcooked and burnt around the edges. When we received our food, we decided that if we were going to get dessert then we better order it right then. My husband and kids all ordered the fried ice cream. When it arrived (30 mins later) it was NOT deep fried. They just rolled the ice cream in corn flakes, put some whipped cream and sprinkles on top, and sent it out. We came here for lunch on June 4, 2017 at 11:45 am. We were the first ones seated. They took our drink orders.. and then left us sitting there for 25 minutes while they took orders from 2 other tables. They walked right by us and totally ignored us.

The second table who'd entered the restaurant.. they got their food about a minute after we PLACED OUR ORDERS.

When our food finally came (45 minutes after we'd been seated), Then literally every server from the entire restaurant came over and said "Are you Ok?" Then they left us completely alone for another 25 minutes.

Does anyone inside this place speak to each other?

The food wasn't that great.. 2 tacos on corn tortillas (I prefer flour, but they never asked or noted this on the menu).. $12.95 for 2 corn tacos and some beans.. not even refried beans.. just pinto beans in a bowl.

The manager never offered us free dessert or drinks or offered to take anything off the bill. I hope racism wasn't a factor, but I'm a white man and I was with a younger black woman.
