One-word Review: Disappointing Dish, High Price, Zero Flavor! Taste: 1/5 Quantity: 3/5 Quality: 1/5 Value for Money: 1/5 Service: 2/5 Packaging: 4/5 Hygiene: 3/5 Overall: 1.5/5
➡️ First Impression: As someone who enjoys exploring new food spots, I was looking forward to trying Biryani Pointe in Gurnee—especially because it specializes in biryani. Unfortunately, this experience turned out to be a complete letdown.
➡️ What I Ordered: I ordered the Mutton Biryani, priced at $23.99 + tax. At this price point, expectations were high for rich flavors and tender meat. But sadly, it was nothing close to what a biryani should be.
➡️ Taste & Quality: The dish was incredibly bland.
It tasted more like plain white rice with half-cooked mutton pieces casually thrown in. It lacked any biryani aroma, spice, or depth of flavor. I even left a note asking to make it spicy, but the chef completely ignored it. The raitha was equally disappointing—thin, flavorless, and not fresh. Honestly, it didn’t even look like biryani, let alone taste like one.
➡️ Portion vs Price: For $23.99, this biryani was shockingly overpriced. The portion might be fair, but the lack of quality, taste, and authenticity makes it feel like a complete waste of money. You expect a lot more from a place with “Biryani” in its name.
➡️ Packaging & Presentation: The only saving grace was the packaging—clean, secure, and spill-free. However, packaging alone can't carry the experience.
➡️ Final Thoughts: It pains me to leave a negative review, but this was genuinely one of the worst biryani experiences I’ve had.
Recommendations for improvement:
Stick to authentic biryani recipes and ensure the meat is fully cooked and marinated. Pay attention to customer instructions—especially spice levels. Reconsider pricing. $23.99 is too high for a dish that lacks flavor and effort. Unless significant changes are made, I wouldn’t recommend the Mutton Biryani from Biryani Pointe in Gurnee. Hopefully, the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving...
Read morePLEASE DONT GO HERE. Read the reviews! THIS WAS THE WORST RESTAURANT I've ever gone too. A group of 6 came here after six flags at 8:45pm- 2 of our friends were still on their way from six flags which is a 4 min drive. The guy who I guess was the owner kept telling us the kitchen closes at 9:30 so we need to order now. He was so RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL and told us we could leave if were not ready to order. WE SHOULD HAVE LEFT but nothing around us was Halal so we stuck it out.
We finally ordered our food, the BIRYANI WAS TRASH, under cooked, no flavor, complete TRASH. The Chicken 65 was ok, BUT THEY DIDN'T WANT TO GIVE US NAAN'S cause there kitchen was closed so how are we suppose to eat? We asked for a few naans but the rude manager said NO. Then at 9:30 another family of 12 came in and HE OPENED THE KITCHE UP FOR THEM after lying to us. We still ignored it and kept eating, then at 9:45 INFRONT OF THE WHOLE RESTAURANT HE TOLD US TO LEAVE because we were laughing- mind you were still eating. We ended up getting upset cause he called us out NOT THE OTHERS THAT WERE EATING, ONLY US. THE OWNER IS SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND NEEDS TO CHANGE HIS CHOICE OF JOB INDUSTRY- He was so disrespectful to us to the point where I want to call the Business BUREAU and have his business shut down. The restaurant is also super muggy and gross looking. WORST RESTAURANT- PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY and go to Burger king or Oliver garden- this guy literally kicked us out and was so mean- and we're Pakistani so to be treated like that was so un called for- SAVE YOUR MONEY- AND THE FOOD IS TRASH. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE COME HERE- I WILL MAKE SURE OTHERS DONT AS WELL. TERRIBLE FOOD,...
Read moreSuper disappointing place, Owner ask us to give the food for the poor people if you feel the food isn’t good, Very worst food, rude owner or staff, charged extra and said it is extra service charge, planning to call Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). Google maps shows it closes at 10:30 P.m. when we called they also confirmed the same. After finishing six flag at 9’o Clk we went as a family at 9:30. While on the way itself we called and ordered the food, when we reached there he said the kitchen is closed now at 9:30 but your food is ready. They served the food like mutton biryani, chicken 65 biryani, chicken fried rice and mutton masala. Except the chicken 65 biryani all the food is in same taste even the fried rice is same biryani taste. When we called the staff and said about the excess oil in mutton curry he immediately said if you don’t want give it to poor, very very rude words and found he is the owner. Since we came from six flag we don’t want to spoil our mood and just kept quit and in the final he charged extra and said it is service charge. I know he will get the best...
