I don’t understand why Oberweis keep employees who obviously despise their job. I went in today (update 4/16) for Ice Cream with my daughter. We were the only ones inside and in the drive thru. It took a bit for the worker, Steven A., to come to the register which is completely fine. As he approached the register we said, Hello, and he didn’t say anything. He just stared. No hello how are you? Or how can I help you? Or what can I get started for you today? It shocked me a bit that I looked back waiting for him to say anything. He gave a dumb gesture of are you going to say anything? Or a what do you want? I brushed it off and asked my daughter what she’d like and she said her order and I even repeated it to him. He seemed annoyed having to deal with customers. He said anything else and as I was saying my order then he decided to close his eyes and take a deep breath of frustration. Our order was for 2 waffle cones with a single serve of ice cream. Nothing crazy or too much to warrant for such reaction. He gave me my change and walked away annoyed without another word. We received our orders and said thank you! Still being polite and nice and he walked away annoyed without another word AGAIN. As we walked out my daughter says it to me seems like he doesn’t like his job, maybe he should get a better one. She’s 11 and even she noticed the crassness of it all. I’ve worked in the restaurant business for a long time and I understand the rush and busy days can become overwhelming. Even our lives can interfere and cause us to be a bit irritated. However, I’ve never taken that out on a customer. I’ve also never advised my staff to do the same. Our experience at your place of business today was subpar and not worth it for how much the quality of your Ice Cream has gone down. Read moreWell I just came from a long day from Six Flags Great America and had a late lunch. I saw there was an Oberweis in Gurnee, IL and really had a craving for this delicious Ice Cream for desert hoping it would be the same in service and quality as the other locations in Chicago and suburbs. I have gone to mainly Skokie and Oak Park location and many others with both Great Service and great ice cream but this particular one kind of disappointed me in service and consistency of the ice cream I was expecting. Well one the server (I think her name was Cas on my receipt) took the order ok BUT it took them very long to deliver. I had the Banana Royal in traditional flavors and it took a while than usual. It was busy and saw some customers but it seemed that they were getting there orders of ice cream faster than my own order. I finally got my order just to notice my Banana Royal was NOT as big as I usually get it compared to Oak Park Location and Skokie as well as the others! This was the 1st time I notice the Banana Royal so small in size. I would recommend to have the service more attentive as well as the consistency of what is being served. I still would go to Oberweis however I would think twice if i had to go to this location with somewhat poor service and low consistency of the ice cream order I saw on the menu. i still like Oberweis but I would go to this Parlor last if...
Read moreI came in for an Uber eats pick up and there was no customers. The order I came in for wasn’t ready and 5mins later another order for pick up here popped up before the previous order was done and more people came in. I accepted the order and let the staff member know that I got another order when he handed me the first order I came in for. Since 3 people had came in and placed an order at the same time as my new order, the manager told me that the other staff member can’t work on it since there were other orders before that one. The second order was easy too, just a double scoop ice cream. This location will now have a unhappy first customer with a semi cold shake and a unhappy driver that won’t come here again since they don’t prioritize online orders nor have them close to ready for pick up when you arrive and there’s no one there.
Edit- 1st customer didn’t receive a cookie that was on the order and I had mentioned it to the staff if the cookie was in the bag. His shake was basically liquid & they didn’t offer to redo it since they made me wait for longer than a half hour on a order he...
