Run, don't walk to Momcorn for a dining experience that will leave you asking "So when are we coming back here?!" We've been dining at Momcorn since they opened years ago but it had been a while between visits just due to the distance between where we live and Momcorn so when the opportunity came up last weekend to get back, we absolutely jumped at the chance to get back! We were waiting with anticipation as Saturday rolled around and as we finished with our appointment, we eagerly jumped in our Subaru and set our course for Momcorn. We pulled into the parking lot and threw the car in park as we sprinted for the front door to our long lost dining meca. As soon as we walked in though, we could tell something wasn't quite the same. The decor had changed, slightly but the pictures on the wall were different and we didn't recognize the staff that we had grown accustomed to. When we first found Momcorn, it was a family owned business and one of the owner's was always behind the register keeping the well oiled machine operating at maximum capacity. Gone was that familiar face so we were a little taken back and apprehension began to creep in. Was this still the Momcorn that we had grown to love, was the food the same and what about the dedication that we had come to appreciate? Our fears were confirmed when we were seated and given our menus. Gone was the book that was the menu we knew, it has been replaced by a slimmed down laminated menu that was simply a front and back. We began to wonder if this was still the Momcorn we knew so when our server came around to take our drink order, we had to ask. Had Momcorn been sold and who was at the helm? Our server confirmed that yes, Momcorn was under new ownership but assured us that the dedication to the food and service that had brought us back countless times remained. We placed our drink orders (which almost always consists of good ole H2O) and proceeded to scan the menu. While it was a slimmed down version, it still contained all of our favorites and a calm began to settle in albeit it with a caution that was only for the eyes and had yet to be tested by the taste buds. We both ordered our favorites, convinced that if they could match what had become our Momcorn staples then they were in fact doing things right and ownership be damned, this was still our Momcorn. Our favorites, you ask? Well, the Pozole soup has always off the charts and my wife has a sweet spot for their Jibarito. I am thrilled to report that we were both absolutely just as satisfied with what we had been on our previous visits and were thrilled to find that they were absolutely dedicated to all things Momcorn! So go and have your own Momcorn adventure! Whether you're a Momcorn veteran or a first time Momcorn diner, you will absolutely be thrilled with the "new" Momcorn and it will quickly become one of your...

Read moreI am writing this review because of an online order I place earlier this week. There was nothing wrong with the food per se, but I was a bit disappointed because it did not match my expectations.
First, the website shows pictures and descriptions of the various menu items. I wanted to try the empanadas, of which they have three varieties - beef, chicken, and cheese. Now, the website shows a picture of three empanadas next to the descriptions and says, "Empanadas" next to the price. So, I assumed I would be getting three small empanadas for the listed price - but this was not the case.
I had placed an order for one "set" of each different variety thinking I would share them with my wife, but what we received was only one empanada of each type. Granted, each empanada was a large one - but not what I expected. When I see three items next to a plural description I expect to get three items. I would suggest making the online pictures and description match the actual item as sold. Currently it is a bit misleading.
Second, I had ordered beans and rice as a side item. In most restaurants I am familiar with which serve Latin American cuisine, the beans are mashed. Indeed, a picture of one of the entrees show mashed beans and rice on the side - but the beans I received were whole. Again, not at all what I expected.
Still, the food was delicious - which is why I gave it four stars despite the disappointed expectations. One other note, all the tortillas, empanada shells, etc. at Momcorn are corn based - not flour based. Which isn't really surprising given the name...
