The food was great, and the service was just OK. They have menus printed on the tables, but also have handheld menus. Nothing had a price on it. We got three decent meals that should’ve come out to about $85 with drinks (soft drinks). When we asked for the check, we just took out our credit card and gave it to them to pay. The total said $107 but because we were enjoying ourselves having family time we didn’t think nothing of it in the moment. they brought it back to us to sign, and I almost added a tip on the tip line, but decided to look at the total again because it just didn’t seem right $107 for three meals for 3 People. I noticed that the gratuity was 15+ dollars added, and when I asked the waitress about why they added a tip to only three people And didn’t let us decide what we wanted to actually tip. She said it was normal for them to charge 18% to everybody no matter how many people was in the party. I asked to speak to the manager and she said she was the manager (she waitress) she was just going on and on with her excuse of why they as the tip. At this point because my husband was just ready to go, he said to let it be and don’t add a tip because obviously they already charged us for it but to leave a remote so other people know what they’re getting into.
I hope that people actually pay attention to their bill if they’re going there because obviously I was getting ready to write something on that line so they would have gotten more out of it. I don’t think it’s fair that they didn’t allow us to decide what we wanted to tip. It definitely wouldn’t have been a $15 for a little to no service other than to take our order then bring out the food and not really check on you or even offer you additional drinks which We had to ask them to bring an additional drink that they charged us for as well. Needless to say we won’t...
Read moreFirst time here. They were pleasant and accommodating from the moment we walked in and asked to view a menu. The hostess made several suggestions of things we might like to try so we decided to sit and eat in the restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant is adorable and you can see the Colombian influences in the decor. There are several TVs there as well as plenty or tables. Its more spacious than I had imagined when we were outside deciding whether to try it out or not.
We sat down and were greeted by our waitress within a few minutes. She was very patient and friendly. They brought ice water, a semi-spicy green sauce, and fresh sliced limes to the table. We shared a rotisserie chicken, yellow rice, tostones and plaintains. Everything was fresh and hot. The chicken was absolutely delicious and falling off the bone tender. I had to force myself to stop eating it. I kept nibbling here and there until we decided to pack the rest to go. I also had a mango smoothie with milk which was perfect and refreshing. I’d return for that alone. Based on what I saw on the menu I definitely plan to come back to try the breakfast.
Oh and I must say- customer service was awesome. We were asked how everything was and if we needed anything more than once which was appreciated. Great spot to try if you want to try authentic...
Read moreAuthentic! You might be the only non-Columbian in the place. The atmosphere is cute, clean, even cool. Although I've never been, it seems like you might think you're in Columbia. Breakfast portions are gigantic. Make sure to get the corn cakes with cheese on top (included with the signature breakfast and probaby other breakfasts too). Portions are enormous. Consider sharing things or you'll be taking stuff home with you. Make sure to try the small containers of green picantes. They taste like they were made in the back just before you walked in. Be sure to squeeze the limes on everything. Order a fresh lemonade. It seems to have some lime in it too. Columbians really like lime!
The breakfast steak is tasty but fiercely tough, the huge breakfast sausage is grilled to a crisp and very tasty One disappointment was the coffee. I hoped the Columbians would be serious about coffee. Not so much. It's like average diner coffee.
Very friendly for families! Nice for kids with minimal TV, above average placemats for coloring, and lollipops...
