I'm a shameless fan of One Bite Pizza, so when I saw Dave Portnoy take a bite of a slice from Evoli and let out a surprised, "Huh...good!" I already knew I'd be coming in for a visit.
We got a margherita pie with added mushrooms and sausages. The handmade pie took a little bit, but it was certainly a conversation-stopper when it arrived. It was hot, loaded with toppings, and had a healthy drizzle of olive oil. Eating it was even better. The cornmeal-dusted crust had pretty decent structural integrity (considering the toppings it had to hold up), and while the sauce was a little tangier than I would've liked, the proportions of crust to sauce to cheese was spot on.
Evoli is a family-owned business and they've been in their current Hackensack location for about five years now. All the people here are sweet as pie, and I especially loved seeing the owner's little girl dancing around and showing off her Power Ranger toy to anyone who showed interest. There's talk about selling their business and changing locations, but so long as the old guard is here, I absolutely recommend...

There are only 4 tables inside so most people take out or order for delivery/pickup. However eating the Pizza directly out of the oven is sooooooo much better!
We ordered the 12 piece wings and wanted 2 type of sauce and they said no problem. We got Buffalo and Teriyaki. So crispy! I would have liked to have more Buffalo sauce but it was still good. I didn't care for the Teriyaki sauce but hubby liked it. We also ordered another 12 pieces to go. We tried the BBQ but I thought it was too sweet :( I've had so much BBQ from different places that I've started go realize the ones I liked were not as sweet and more smoky.
Silcian with Extra Cheese, Pepperoni, Anchovies, Tomatoes and Onions. This is actually our 2nd time having a Sicilian from Evoli. Last time was take out and it was great. Which is why we wanted to eat in. Um it was amazing! Will have to try a regular...
Read moreI am a lifelong Hackensack resident and I’m EXTREMELY disappointed at the customer service at this place. Poorly trained staff and rude owner. Disappointing because food is decent. Ordered on a non-football Saturday afternoon and was told 45 minutes to pick up a pie and an hour for a delivery 2 minutes away from the restaurant. Girl that took my call did not know what she was doing. I asked to speak to a manager turns out he was another employee that was not helpful. Then I asked to speak to the owner Frank but he was very crass, indifferent, and standoffish and he hung up on me. Exactly the opposite of what an owner is supposed to do. My coworkers and I work very close to Evoli but we will NOT be ordering from here again. They need to step it up especially with the volume of people Hackensack will be seeing in the coming years if they...
