We were walking by and the smell was absolutely amazing. Checking out the menu from outside, the fact things were organic, or grass fed, or listed as all natural and I loved the fact that they use Pomace Oil, was so excited for healthy alternatives. Everyone was SUPER nice and friendly it made me even more excited. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich (we never had the G1 sauce before, so we got it on the side just in case. I ordered the Forager Burger (and have been obsessed with roasted tomatoes lately so I added that on). We were going to share the Truffle Fries. The only thing that was odd to me was on the menu it says Truffle Aioli under the description of the fries (she charged me $1 extra for it... don't put it in the description if it doesn't come with it). The chicken sandwich was 3-4 tenders on a house made bun. When he took the buns out, they were golden and beautiful, but eating it was actually pretty doughy, which was a little sad. The tenders had more of a flour taste then flavor and the chicken inside was a tad bit dry. My burger was actually pretty good, just again, lacking on seasoning/flavor. I guess I might be a little biased on that because I know there's a lot of people out there that "let the meat speak for itself", but for me, I love flavor in my meat. When we make roasted tomatoes at home, we season them, these were plain cooked. The flavor of the Cooper sharp cheese, the caramelized onions, and fully cooked mushrooms (thank goodness, other places sometimes just barely cook them, I love them soft) brought the burger up more to sort of try and bring everything together. The other thing was the burger was so juicy, the toasted white bread had so much butter on it kinda made it a little more greasy than expected, but hey, it's a burger. The fries were a little oily, but had a bunch of cheese crumbles on it, so they were nice, but again, me being biased, I like thick cut fries that are soft in the middle, light crunch on the outside - so don't take my word on those. It was nice to dip them in the Truffle aioli because the sweetness of it helped with the oil/cheese combination. I felt bad not fully enjoying it, because the man looks like he loves it and puts his all into it, which is what I expect the cook (maybe Owner?) to do. The girl at the front counter was super pleasant and wonderful as well. I'd love to come back and try the cheesesteak because it LOOKS amazing! But I'm worried that it might not be seasoned as...
Read moreI’d read reviews beforehand, noticed people’s experience with the frying oil. I had truffle fries, a few were soft but most were pleasantly crispy. The frying flavor was slightly different and they note that they use a different oil. The taste was slightly different, but it wasn’t old or bad oil, just not what everyone else uses. I ate all of my fries happily, it didn’t affect my ‘positive eating experience’ :) The sandwich was pretty good! I don’t buy lots of cheesesteaks so don’t have lots of comparative experience. But the seeded roll was good, I had mushrooms which was good overall. I know some ‘must’ have traditional items or else they criticize the food. I’ve never been to downtown Philly for a ‘real’ cheesteak. Someday i might become a tourist and get one with the traditional cheese wiz and all that, but I think cheese wiz is horrid, so if a sandwich shop uses real cheese on a sandwich then they are going to get thumbs up from me! :D … and some people think non traditional rolls are a demerit to food. The roll was chewy outside and tasted good, didn’t fall apart when I was eating. The only demerit would be a sandwich (including extra mushrooms) costing over $17. Of course this is why I don’t eat out very often, and the location of downtown historic haddonfield is bound to have a negative effect on the cost of anything. …. I’m sure anything of size nowadays anywhere that’s well made will no longer be ‘cheap’ :/ ; I enjoyed the meal and had some sandwich for breakfast. If it wasn’t late in the evening I might’ve eaten all of it that night, it...
Read moreFirst let me say, that this place is overly expensive. Two burgers (the only extras we got on ours was cheese on each), one order of fries, one order of onion rings and two bottles of soda is over $50. A family of four to come there and spend over $100 for burgers, fries and some drinks is outrageous.
Everything we ordered was incredibly salty. The fries were crazy salty, and very chewy. Unpleasant after taste. The onion rings were good, but again, the crust was chewy and they were over salted. Not sure if the batter they used was old, and/or the oil was either old or the wrong temperature.
My son and I love a good burger. We travel all over and try new places. This burger was a solid "C-". Once again, very salty, even without the cheddar cheese. And also, no sear at all. No crust on the burger. It was cooked to temperature, but there was no texture whatsoever. You want some texture. Nice soft middle with a crispy outer layer. Like a good steak. Nope. Same chew from outer to inner. The best part of the experience was the burger bun. I need to go out and get those for the burgers I make at home.
I think the ketchup they use is house made, and it has a very strong vinegar bite. I asked for onions on my burger, and I think they put a whole one on there. All I tasted in my first bite was onion. I removed a good 3/4 of the onions they put in there.
Sorry guys, but with the selection of burger places in our area and how good they are, between the price, the burger, and the overly salty everything, it's not a place I'd...
