I stopped by, with a friend, for dinner. We were seated immediately. We chose outside seating, but under the roof of the entrance. It was a mid-week day so there was no weekend Haddonfield crowd, and no wait.

Our server was super friendly and knew the menu very well. She did a great job explaining how the food was made and what we were getting. The food took a while to come out. I get it, everything is made fresh, you realize why when your plates arrive. The presentation is perfect. I'm not complaining.

To start, we ordered the Zaffron Tasting Plate. Great grouping of different humus, cheese, olives, and Baba ghanoush on the plate..... But there was 1 pita cut into 4 slices. Definitely not enough for two people, and not enough to help with dishing out all of the humus and Baba ghanoush. Shame, because everything on the plate was delicious.

I've seen reviews about the lack of pita being served I don't get why this is and why it hasn't been corrected. I kind of expected the pita issue, but thought they would have corrected this by now. I mean the cost of making small batches of pita is probably pennies on the dollar. Our waitress did ask if we would like more pita, of course we said yes. She brought out one more pita, cut into 4 slices. I'm not sure if we were charged because I didn't check the bill for that. Other's have mentioned there is a charge.

I ordered the Chicken Kurma... Outstanding. One of the best dishes I've had in a while. I just wish the chicken wasn't so dry and chewy. My friend ordered the chicken kabob. She liked it, but said the chicken was over cooked and chewy. I have to agree, I tried it myself. It was the same as mine. We both agreed if the chicken in going to be overcooked then maybe they should consider using cubed boneless chicken thighs, because it's hard to ruin those. She really liked the tzatziki, Basmati rice and roasted vegetables.

The final bill wasn't that expensive. I thought it would have been more. Even though there's a couple issues mentioned, I enjoyed the dinner & the service. I would...

Let me start by saying I have been coming to Zaffrons for 5 years over 20 times. I love this little spot and I really do think that this was just a bad day but the last two experiences were not great and today sealed it. I dined at Zaffron at 4:00 pm there were two waitress very kind and nice. The tables count was about 4- 4 tops and maybe a 2 top. Not crazy busy but understood that it could be a wait. My wife and I have been hyping this place up to her aunts and the experience was not great. Start with the bread and oil for the table. The bread and oil was more for a single person than for a 4 party group. Understandable it’s complementary so it’s a nice gesture. But we got the hummus of the month which is the best thing from this place is their delicious hummus. BUT again the bread was enough for one person let alone four of us. We ask for more bread and around 10 mins or less later get it. The entrees were as followed a pasta ragu with lamb , chicken over rice with vegetables and two of the same seafood dishes which I don’t know exactly what they were. It took about a hour Lisa and some change after our apps for our food to come out. Our waitress was nice and did tell us our food should be coming out soon but was much later then soon. When the food arrived my lamb pasta was just not good at all I could only eat less then half. The sauce was very watery and the mushroom were huge the lamb was not seasoned good and tasted odd. My wife’s dish was not great either with her chicken tasting strong of just one seasoning and her vegetables tasting like the grills built up oils. My aunts dishes were ok but you can see they were disappointed and the last thing I was Ted to do was tell the waitress our food was bad and have a whole scene. She was lovely and the place I’m sure might still sever good food but for having to back to back bad experience I just think I’ll have to end my five year relationship with Zaffrons. Our bill...

Overall, while the chef's competence and the staff's effort were evident, several aspects of our recent dining experience significantly detracted from its value and enjoyment.

The portion sizes, particularly for proteins, were remarkably small given the price point. For instance, the salmon in my salad consisted of only five 1-inch cubed pieces. While the salmon was very well seasoned and the greens were fresh, the excessive price for such a small protein portion was concerning. Furthermore, the prices on the in-house menu were not aligned with those listed on the website, which is misleading for customers. Outdoor Seating Comfort: The "air conditioning" in the enclosed outdoor patio was inadequate, making for an uncomfortable dining environment. A significant issue arose when our table was charged an additional $5 for a small request of eight olives after ordering a sampler. This seemed like a trivial and petty charge given the overall cost of the meal. We challenged this charge, and it was quickly removed from our bill. This incident raises questions about the billing practices. It appears management may be attempting to increase profit margins by inflating prices and reducing portions of higher-priced ingredients. While the quality of the prepared food and the effort of the staff are commendable, these operational decisions negatively impact the customer experience. Addressing the pricing transparency, portion sizing, and questionable extra charges would greatly improve the...

Setting is cozy, the owner was wonderful, service was good, and everything was cooked very well. Sounds like a 5* review, I mean look at how large the lamb shank is. It was cooked tenderly, fell right off the bone. The plate looks impressive, but the flavor leaves a lot to be desired. In the past year I've had lamb that was priced in the $25+ range, and a few times I've been "wowed" and ate until I couldn't fit another bite. A few times I have been happy, even if it was ultimately forgettable. This time, falls into the camp of indifference. I liked how it was cooked, but the sauce didn't integrate with the lamb. It didn't enhance it. The vegetables were bland also, and the hummus was decent, but unmemorable. Pita was served warm, but with the tasting plate I was only given 3-4 pieces. Come on now, there's hummus and baba ganoush and roasted red peppers, enough total to feed 3-4 people as a nice appetizer. Bring out appropriate amounts of pita from the get-go. The food was decent, prepared better than seasoned. My girlfriend asked if I would go back, and I responded, "It was nice to try, cross a new restaurant off of the list, but with these prices, I would not." We spent $100 for a tasting appetizer, and 2 entrees, but neither of us walked away with a food item that was memorable.

This was my second time at Zaffron and while it was a good experience, the cost is not justified. I’m not sure if prices went up since I last came, but $40 for 3 shrimp, 2 scallops, and some veggies with rice is unacceptable. I ordered the shrimp and scallop kebab expecting to get 2 filled skewers only to be yearning for more. My wife got the veggie kebab which also felt overpriced at over $20. I guess it makes sense the online menus don’t have prices. And to boot, the hummus appetizer is clearly served with too little pita, for which they’ll charge extra for each pita serving. While the food is decent, I can’t say I’ll be returning anytime soon based on all of this.
