My family started eating at Gondolier when it first opened. It was beyond amazing but during the past few years it has dramatically gone down hill and now it is hitting rock bottom. First of all the smell! When you walk in it smells like old socks that haven't been washed in a while. The smell of parmesan cheese and other foods is overwhelming. The place really needs a thorough cleaning and updating. The people at the cash register seem to think that customers are bothering them and the girls at the waitress stand act like you really are bothering them. You are met with a half hearted "Hello, How many?" You may get a smile and you may not. They really act like you are interrupting their girl chat sessions. The food...where to start. If you get what you ordered, you are doing well. If you get half of what you ordered and it is not burned, raw, or swimming in grease you are really doing well. The past three times I ordered a large salad there is barely enough lettuce to call it a salad. Sometimes the lettuce is brown, sad bitter tasting cucumbers, tomato wedges that sometimes are limp or just turning bad are used. There is about a tablespoon of bacon crumbles, a few croutons, but it is loaded to the max with cheeses and cold cut meats that actually hide the salad pieces. I had chicken parmesan. The chicken was definitely frozen and rubbery, the spaghetti was way over cooked or left in the water way too long and what little sauce was on the spaghetti was swimming in grease. The Calamari was so greasy I couldn't eat it and actually soaked the grease up with a napkin. The last time I ate there, about a week ago, the waitress must have been having a bad evening. She was just short of being rude. After putting the plates on the table, she only came back once to check on us and didn't offer drink refills or ask about the meal. She just laid the check down and walked on by. I can honestly say I will never...
Read moreI have been to this location multiple times with family and friends. Tonight was just for my family. Our waiter did not know the menu. He told me there was no seasoned shrimp on the menu and told my husband that they don't have baked spaghetti with meatballs and meat sauce then comes back with one salad when we order 2. The main course was right behind that and he brought out a calzone to which we did not order. My sons entree was a kids chicken tenders with fries. They brought out an order of chicken tenders with a side of fries ok whatever he won't eat it all so I'll take it home. The waiter came back by to say he thought my husband order spaghetti with a calzone but had to take the spaghetti back because it wasn't baked. The waiter did not come back by to see if we needed anything else or even ask. He never asked if we were enjoying our food. Then when I went up to pay I told someone at the front that my son's food was supposed to be a kids meal which he fixed but he too did not ask if we enjoyed our meal or any other customer service. Somewhere this should have been dealt with differently.. I been here and received all different kinds of service. One time the waitress brought out the food and forgot to put my son's order in so he sat there watching us eat (because he didn't have food and is picky) but the waitress made it up with her apology and service. She made sure to come back by multiple times to check on us to see if we needed/wanted anything. And when she made a mistake she owned it and took care of it. Customer Service is important everywhere/everyday!!! I work in it and have for...
Read moreI have been to this Gondolier countless times. I used to go up to 2-3 times a week, but I got burned out and now go maybe once a month or once every other month. I like the fact that they have a varied menu - some favorites of mine are the calzones, the chicken fettucini, and the white pizza. BUT, you have GOT to try their desserts! The best hands down for me is the Turtle Brownie Cheesecake!!! Huge and delicious! Sometimes I'll just pick that up for myself!
Another plus is that they offer Pepsi products, my favorite! Also, they bring out breadsticks right away and they are endless! The kids love them and even eat the accompanying sauce!
The servers are usually very friendly as well as the hostesses. The restaurant has always been clean. I don't recommend going during peak times though since they don't have enough seating for people waiting and it gets very hectic. Also, their parking lot does not have enough spots for everyone so people have to park in other parking lots and walk.
The to-go service is a great option. Typically you can pick your order up in 15 minutes. They have special to-go parking spots right by the door so you can zip in and out in a flash.
The only other drawback I can think of at the moment is that the kids' menu is pretty limited to Italian foods, so my son would only eat the garlic bread and my daughter would special order a grilled cheese sandwich (not on the menu).
Overall, I recommend this restaurant. I've heard that other Gondoliers in the area are not nearly as good-tasting so don't judge...
