Griff's is a daily stop for me at least to get four 44 oz cups of ice. Once a week I will add a stop for dinner. No matter when you go the service you receive is seldom much better then below standards. April 23rd at 8:54 p.m. I went inside, drive thru - crazy, to get 4 cups of ice and onion rings. There was about 8 workers two just standing around doing nothing. I ordered and the young man filled and handed me my ice cups and I handed them back because they were half full. I sat down to wait on the onion rings, I am also the only order inside. After 10 minutes I ask them about my food. They clearly had forgot, the young man handed me the sack and I went to my car. As I walked my car I did however notice that there was no heat coming from the bag whatsoever when I got in my car I opened the bag tried one - COLD! The onion rings that I had waited 10 minutes to get not even warm. I walked back in, a young lady approached me finally after I had to get their attention and I let her know that I would like to have fresh onion rings especially after waiting 10 minutes to get them. This young lady then proceeded to tell me that she could drop them back in the grease again for me and reheat them. Hold up, I told her first, I ordered fresh hot onion rings and that's what I want. Second, you should never re-drop food because then they taste horrible you can tell they've been dropped again they're just terrible. Third, those onion rings left their building went to my car. Once that food item has left the building it is not supposed to be anything in their equipment in the kitchen. She looked at me all crazy and honestly was not going to replace my cold rings. Finally she went and made another order, much to her chagrin, and now another 9 minutes later I am being handed my onion rings by what I'm guessing is either assistant manager or manager. I asked him what time it was he said it's 9:17 p.m. I said huh he said is it a problem I said yes sir I got here at 8:54 to get these onion rings and the first ones were cold so it took y'all 24 minutes to get me an order of onion rings. There was no apology of any sort and I left the building. I still had the original cold onion rings so I got home open the bag and the original onion rings that this young lady wanted to dip into the grease looks like they had already been dipped twice. I've attached the pictures of what they look like they were horrible. This is becoming a more and more typical experience that I'm having at Griff's. In addition if you don't notice something's wrong with your food whenever you are there they do not ever answer the phone. So you'll have to either come back up there to complain or not complain at all. But I spent my hard-earned money on it it's going to be right. So recommendation to the Griff's management at that location you really need to probably train your employees a little bit more on the food safety how to deal with customers general courtesy and customer service and how to get out edible food. At the young man who initially made my ice cups he's fairly news explained to him what he had done that caused him to be half full and he thanked me for explaining that too but the girl and onion rings that girl's been there a while so get...
Read moreI went to Griffs last night with my family and our dining experience was subpar. Our entire order was old. When the order initially came out I immediately returned our fries because they were old and stale. We waited for fresh fries to be made before we began to eat our burgers. To our great disappointment the wait was in vain. After a wait for fresh fries the manager called out to me your fries are ready with an attitude. She placed the tray on the counter top and walked away without returning my food to directly to me. I sat down and began to eat the burger and noticed that my bun was old and stale. We order grilled onions and they were still crunchy and hard. The lettuce and tomatoes were old wilted and soggy. The cheese was cold and the meat luke warm. I then went back to the counter and challenged the shift manager by showing her the old wilted lettuce from my wife and my burgers. She then admitted that the vegetables on our burgers were old and that our fries were subpar because of old oil. I then told her that it couldn't be the oil because the fresh fries were what I was use to normally receiving. That what I received initially was just old and stale. She proceeded to admit that it was 9pm and that they don't cook fresh to order after 8:30pm. She told me that meat and cheese on my burger were not old. I then expressed to her that my bun was stale and that the meat and cheese on our burgers were old and cold as well. I shared with her that I have grown up eating Griffs with my dad and that my dining experience had never been this terrible. This restaurant has been hot and cold with freshness of its food for a while. I have dined at this location (Haltom City), the Lancaster location in Fort Worth, and the location in Dallas on Military Parkway. The quality that I have been use to is no longer here. I would not recommend eating at Griffs because it's a 75% chance that you will not receive the value for what you pay for. $30 dollars a visit could be well served and appreciated at another...
Read moreThis is a local favorite from when I used to live down the street from this location. As I was traveling from downtown Fort Worth up 121, I thought of Griff's and immediately got off at Haltom Rd. for another taste. Everything was great. Fries were standard, but this is not the reason you go to Griff's. I got. Double with cheese and bacon. It was the best burger I've had all year. Yes, Griff's burger is better than in-and-out, Steak-n-Shske, Jack in the Box, or any other place I've been recently. I'm not sure I would go as far as to say it is better than Whataburger, though. I place these two at equal. But slightly different. You can tell WhataBurger patties are pre-formed and frozen for shipping, but they are hefty and don't lose size too much when they cook them. However, griff's are made from fresh ground beef on-site. Not from a frozen block. You can tell because the edges are not perfect and tapered off/beveled. Also, it's slightly cooked unevenly. This, to me, sounds of freshness, and it tastes that way too. This is as close to my own burger at home, as you can get. Fresh, made to order, down home taste, and not too expensive either. I do wish there were more locations out my way in Plano. BUT, I'm kind of talking my way into going there after work tonight, if I'm going to be heading out there. Anyway, if you're looking for a true, real, slightly greesy (but not to touch), handmade, fresh beef burger... GRIFF'S is the place to go. (If you can find one, even remotely close, it's worth it). I highly recommend...
