I always go to this place for breakfast omelettes, unfortunately on 03/14/2024 while dining there and almost finished eating my meal there was a COCKROACH in the food. I showed it to the server and all she said was “sorry and you don’t have to pay for the meal”. I contacted the manager the next day and he had no remorse, no empathy or sympathy. He was rude and sounded inexperienced in customer service. All he said “ he can give me back my money. He also asked me “what I wanted him to do because he been in business 25 years and haven’t gotten a complaint like this”He doesn’t seems to understand it’s not about the money, it’s my health and other people’s health . Eating a Cockroach in my meaI is absolutely unaccepted sir. You need to go get some customer service training and also give your staff some inservices.

The Brownstone is our hands-down favorite local diner. We're regulars here and have literally never been disappointed. It gets really busy but the wait is never bad, service is always friendly and quick and we're never rushed out. Deb is our fav but the whole team is fantastic!! Some standout menu items are any of their eggs benedict specials (but esp the salmon), kielbasa omelet, breakfast burritos, and the 2x2x2 (my bf's regular with bacon, scrambled eggs with cheese, and pancakes, and extra bacon!!). The pancakes are to die for (apple cinnamon!!!! lemon blueberry!!!!) Specials rotate every weekend and highlight seasonal items & when we do stray to their lunch menu everything's been good!! French fries paired with an omelette FTW when hungover

Good, honest 6am to 2 pm breakfast and lunch only joint. And the fact that it faces the historic Hamden town hall makes it better somehow. Free parking in back. Hint- ok f there's no parking......let it go and explore a new place. Hint #2- if you're fancy, don't embarrass this place with your presence.

Food was decent (western omelette and home fries) and prices are fair but....on my second visit I found two hairs in my plate! From our booth in the corner along the window, I can see that the cook had very long, black hair (matching the hairs on my plate) but no hair net. I informed the waitress who spoke with the manager. He came over and said, dismissively, "what would you like me to do?" No apology, no sense of concern. Even the waitress followed up, shrugged and said that she's asked to get him a hairnet but nothing was done. She offered to take $10 off the bill but I said that money is not the issue. I paid full price but told myself not to come back. If you want a better alternative, the breakfasts at Town House Hamden are great and right down the road near the Clarion...
