Needs new management. The employees are hardworking, but the leadership is terrible. Things to consider. I was in the sports bar section which is separate from restaurant section and sitting at the bar with my group. it was only between 40% - 50% capacity during Sunday dinner with a professional game on 630pm - 730pm which should be rush time There is a table distribution system in place which you can see on your receipt. No one uses it. Now here is the major issues. Organization There weren't using a systematic way to serve customers We were in a group of 7 at the bar and one of us got there drink 10 minutes behind the rest of us. 1 of us bought a round of beers for all of us and at least 2 of us didn't get it. When food came out for the 2 tables behind the bar and us, the employees had no clue who it belonged to. We all ordered dinners (No appetizers) and 2 of who ordered pizzas got our food 10 minutes behind the burgers and chicken sandwiches which doesn't make sense for cook time since they are New Haven style thin crust pizzas that are max 10" My pizza was totally wrong as far as title, however close as far as ingredients of what I ordered and what came out. Because the rest of the group except 1 other person who got a pizza was over half done with their food when it came out, I respectfully told the bar tender, I will take the one you have just bring out the chili's and the chili oil and that would be good enough. She said no they would fix it. Given the time discrepancy I knew it was a bad idea, but they did it anyway. Around 10 minutes later I asked the lady who brought the pizza out originally when she walked by to bring a box out when the pizza comes out because everyone else was about done. A few minutes later my pizza came out without a box. I asked the bartender if she can get me a box because I was going to be taking it home because everyone had already finished eating. The bartender offered me a free beer because of the pizza mess up, but I turned it down, because I just wanted to leave. None of us were happy and I just wanted to be gone and done with the whole evening. Price - too expensive. Taste - somethings were good. I heard good things about the chicken sandwich and the pretzel. My sour was pretty good. My pizza was terrible. It looked good when you opened it, but because they decided to put whole tomato slices on a paper thin base, it was a sloppy mess. I ate 1 slice before the box came out and you can either eat the bread or everything else unless you had a knife and fork. I slid the rest into the box and attempted to eat a second slice and regretted it after 1 bite. Overall quality was poor. All in all we were not the only ones having issues there were frustrations at the tables around us. 80% of all restaurants fail in the first 5 years, I don't want this to be one because employees lose jobs and hamden loses revenue. The owner and the bar manager needs a heart to...
Read moreA friend of mine and myself love going to happy hour and have been looking for a new place. Today he asked me to try this place since we only live 5 minutes from there. We sat down at the bar and watched the bar tender dry and organize the different glasses and serve some other people that were already there. After 12 minutes I was asking my friend if he wanted to leave and the bartender from the other side of the bar finally asked us if we wanted anything. (He was helpfull- the other bartender was NOT) We get our beer, we start eating, we finish our beer, the guy shows our bar tender that our beer is gone, she comes and asked us if we wanted another beer, we said yes. She serves the people on the other side, served the 3 guys next to us, gives the waiter some beers for some tables, checks her text messages and we never get our refill. Since we didn't have anything to wash our burgers down with, we sat there for about 15 minutes before the bartender from the other side finally comes and checks on us. I was only able to eat my fries,(since I had nothing to wash my sandwich down with) my chicken sandwich sat on my plate and she couldn't even ask if I wanted a to go container. After we expressed our concerns, she just gave us our check and never even apologized. Looked at us like "so what". One star because the food was ok. It would have tasted better if we had better service. I don't like when you offer substitutes (Sweet potato fries, tater tots, onion rings, etc. instead of regular fries) at an up charge. I you don't read the fine print, you will be paying more. You should let a customer know about the up charge if you are verbally asking if we would like to substitute. I understand an up charge if I were adding something (bacon, extra veggies, etc.) but not subbing something. It's like an inconvenience fee. Just charge .50 cents more from the beginning and offer...
Read moreFive adults ate lunch here on Monday, 4-15-2024. Our waiter continually ignored us and didn't do a reasonable job when he was available. One of us had his hand raised for a long time and when our waiter would walk towards us he was blind to our attempts to get his attention. When he came he was not on top of things, like offering us another drink or clearing dishes. He was inept about when our food would come out or offering to bring us some of the appetizers. The food took FOREVER to come and he left us in limbo until we asked when we were going to be served. His excuse was that they were short-staffed because it was a Monday. Well, they sure had plenty of waitstaff wandering around because they were not busy! So, a lot of blame seems to go to the kitchen. Also, there was no sign of any management making themselves visible, like during our first visit... And note to management: The tiny, long plates they overcrowd with a burger and fries is just ridiculous. Food falling off everywhere. As to the food, what my wife and I had was good, except the blistered shishito peppers (with sea salt) had ZERO salt on them. The Brussels sprouts were overcooked, meaning that a lot of the sprouts were mushy, shriveled and black. Way too much time was spent under the broiler! The mussels with sausage were tasty but the mussels were somewhat overcooked as many were dried out. Seeing as how this was our second mediocre lunch here we think we will call it quits. It's too bad because they have a lot on their menu that I like. Oh, I enjoyed the Naughty Nurse. However, I had to nurse it way too long, waiting for the waiter to reappear. So, the last half of it was...
