Rizzos Original Pizza Tub — Restaurant in Hamden

These are delicious & addictive! I've been here many times since I discovered them via IG. The owners, Kevin & Carole, are wonderful; very warm, friendly, & passionate about their yummy innovative spin on pizza. So far it's been consistent for me to quickly grab a parking spot in front & within less than 10 minutes get my fix. I have to credit the sweet(ish) sauce in the center of the pizza tubs which ignite that yearning for more. I really enjoy all the 4 varieties they have to choose from but most times I'm a purist & love the plain cheese. Also, the bacon & onion is a standout. This is a great alternative to "fast" food. The ingredients are super fresh & overall the pizza tubs are light (not heavy or greasy) & completely gratifying. I love pairing them with an arugula salad for dinner. For a meal so satisfying it's also very economical. I recently brought these to a social gathering & everyone was taken by the novelty of it & its taste. Happy to report, too, that popping in the microwave for under 10 secs to warm them up again, did not compromise the integrity or texture. I've also purchased these frozen as a gift & tried them for myself & enjoyed them just the same. So much versatility whether for lunch, dinner, snack, gift...I can see these being very popular with the area college kids since they're so affordable, tasty & fun to eat! And now I've triggered a craving completing...

These things are truly amazing. I got the bacon and onion and cheese. They aren’t too salty and taste really good. The two owners are super nice and welcoming as well. There are a couple things I would like to see. the price of the pizza tubs. I think $10 for 4 is a little much because it’s on the small side but they are quite heavy and filling. It would be nice to see a discount if you buy 4 instead of the same price per tub. ($2.50 per tub but if you buy 4 it isn’t at a discount per tub). Or maybe even 10 tubs for .50c cheaper per tub for example. It also would be nice if they sold frozen ones at a slight reduction in price. Gave this place a try. The owners are a married couple, are very funny and very welcoming. I ordered a 4 pack. 2 Bacon and onion, 2 cheese tomato pesto. The bacon and onion wasn't as tasty as I thought they would be, the cheese and pesto was okay. I had hoped to have tried 1 of each from the menu but was told you can't mix, so I kept my order to a 4 pack. The online menu advertised $1.00 bottled water, but they had no water in their fridge. B.Y.O.W or you'll have to use your saliva to wash these down. There is also no place to sit, so you must take your order to go. I hope that one they'll decide to allow customers to mix their pizza tubs, so they don't have to commit to eating 2 that they...
