Taqueria y Pupuseria Mari — Restaurant in Hamilton

This was my husband and my first time having Taqueria y Pupuseria Mari. We each got a pork and cheese pupusa and a pork, bean, and cheese pupusa with mild sauce and red sauce. Last minute, we decided to add two quesa birrias. First, I have to say the customer service was top tier. I have anxiety so trying new places can be hard for me. I prefer to be able to look at the menu ahead of time so I can say exactly what I want when I go in because I worry that I’ll look stupid otherwise. I did not feel that way at all when we went in though. I didn’t feel like I was being a bother when I asked what was in something and she actually told us about some menu items without us even asking, giving us recommendations of popular menu items since it was our first time. The food was absolutely delicious, too. My husband and I both loved everything about it. I don’t like cole slaw in general so I didn’t get that but my husband doesn’t mind it so he decided to try the spicy slaw. He said if he liked cole slaw rather than just tolerated it, that would be how he would eat it because it was really good that way. This restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside but aren’t those usually the best ones? I can’t wait to go back and try more...

I called and placed an order for 12 pupusas and they said it would be about 15 minutes. When I arrived, I saw a lady come outside and when we got out of the car she ran back inside closing the door in our face. We still went in and I saw her put our food on the grill without washing her hands. As soon as she did that, I asked her “did you wash your hands?” And she responded by saying yes, I responded back by saying no you did not I watched you. She just looked at me dumbfounded and said to have a seat to wait for the food. My fiancé and I went into the car to wait and they sent someone to wait around outside to make sure we did not leave. The lady that came out was wearing gloves and I am confident she did not change her gloves after coming out and touching the door handle. If they had the audacity to do this in front of a paying client, I’m scared to know what happens when people are not watching. We paid for the food but threw it out as soon as we got home. I rather be out $45 dollars then end up with a bacteria or serious infection due to these...

I ordered from here through door dash, and spent 33ish dollars on what looks to be a mushed mess and I'm missing 8 more Gorditas. So I called the store, not only would the lady I spoke with even not care to listen that I was missing my food, there was also a language barrier a bit , no big deal, but then she proceeds to hang up on me after I tried again to explain hey im missing my food? Its not big deal for me to drive over there and pick it up either but to hang up on me after charging me for crap I didnt get.. Not sure about anyone else but 33 dollars for soggy smooshed gorditas with a pound of cheese and cream and not even the right proteins I picked either...
