New Palace Bakery — Restaurant in Hamtramck

I bought a package of angel wings at Foodland grocery store. My mom used to make angel wings and we love them so I thought we would give it a try. The package says New Palace Bakery in Hamtramck so I thought it would be reliable. I hope the angel wings they sell in the bakery itself are better, but what I bought at the store was horrible, absolutely horrible and disgusting. The angel wings are extremely heavy and it’s like eating lard in the mouth. I had to wipe out my mouth and my tongue covered in grease after eating one of their angel wings. Angel wings are supposed to be light and crisp not heavy and lard ridden and greasy. I don’t know if they are always like this so I hope it’s not a reflection on the bakery itself, but I don’t know.

I heard back from the bakery and they do not wholesale to the grocery store so I’m going to respond to them and hopefully they can resolve the product issue. I’m very happy to help them out and I hope this helps them.

In town for a conference. I started looking for places to visit while in Detroit and this bakery kept coming up on the lists. I'm always worried when you travel and you go to a bakery that they're actually going to have anything there when you arrive. This was such a great surprise. A bunch of nice people behind the counter. Super eager and ready to help. Explained all the wonderful new things that I had never seen before , then they began asking me questions about what I liked, what did that tell you about trying to make a customer happy. And they help me pick out some local favorites and a couple of my own favorite treats.

I came for the very special donuts and that were outstanding. They have plenty of inventory to pick from as you can tell by the pictures and that was just before lunch time. So much to choose from. It's hard to pick what you're going to like or want. It was difficult to walk out without trying everything, but you have to pick something. I wish I could come back to this place more often, but since I was only visiting I had to take a small sample of everything and head out.

I wish them a long long life because they're a fantastic bakery and a great asset to any city, most any town would love to have a place like this. It's a treasure! Congrats Detroit you have something...

Got recommended by one of my co-workers, drove half hour on a Saturday to try this place. I had to say, this is the BEST paczki I've ever had so far! Highly recommended! We came in around noon time, they had about 80% of the options available, parking was easy, there were plenty of street parking nearby, just remember need to pay the meter. We ordered a bunch of flavors being it was our first time, trying to taste everything lol. We both liked Centennial Brew most! All the filings are so creamy and not so sweet at all. I personally like Centennial Brew over custard, and then chocolate, peanut butter & jelly then fruity flavor. I am not a big fan of angel wings, it tasted differently than I thought it would be, had a different texture.
