Polonia Restaurant — Restaurant in Hamtramck

I was so excited to try this restaurant and was extremely disappointed. I visited the restaurant over the weekend. Upon entering, I noticed multiple tables open. There was a sign that stated you should wait to be seated, so we stood there, and kept standing . It was 10 minutes and nobody even acknowledged us (party of two). I wish we left at that point but sat at the bar area in hopes of getting served. Unfortunately we sat at the bar, which felt like an eternity, even another customer seated near me commented that we would never be served. Finally, a waitress came by and took our order. However, each aspect of the meal took forever (getting water, food, etc).

I really wish we left when we weren't seated. (It wasn't just us, I noticed this issue with other customers standing forever, with multiple empty tables). The food tasted like reheated frozen food. The sausage had a weird taste and I had to spit it out after one bite. I'm not sure what was wrong with it or if that's how they cook it? The saurkraut was extremely soggy and it seemed to have a large amount of oil in it. The cabbage roll wasn't hot, it was lule warm and tasted like Stauffer's frozen cabbage roll.

I really wanted to like this place but can't. The food and service were disappointing. I guess I can say that the mural and decorations were nice. The restaurant at least appeared to be clean. The only positive I can give us that the pickle soup was good and it was hot as it should be (not luke warm like my other food). Maybe I was here on a bad night,...

This was my first visit to the restaurant... all I can say is that it's wonderful how certain flavors can evoke such powerful memories. The way a dish tastes can truly transport us back to cherished times. Those familiar flavors become deeply connected to our personal histories. It sounds like you had a meal that brought back some wonderful feelings. Their food truly has the unique ability to connect us to the past. To put it simply, their food was just like my Mamusia used to make.

As for the service... We had a lovely dining experience! The staff were all so welcoming and accommodating. Our waitress was fantastic; she was attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. It truly elevated our meal to have such friendly service. We will definitely be back!

As for the atmosphere... I really enjoy places with a more modern design. This place has a bright and open floor plan is so refreshing. It's nice to have some space and not feel crowded. The atmosphere was very inviting! It makes it a great place to eat and feel comfortable while you eat.

As for their prices...I was so pleasantly surprised by how affordable everything was! It felt like stepping back in time to when dining out didn't break the bank. The portions were generous, too, which made it even more of a value. It's great to see a place keeping prices reasonable for their customers. We'll...

We were sorry we were not able to have lunch at Polonia Resturant, on Sunday 11/16/14. When we arrived there was a line of people waiting. We did get inside the door to wait our turn. We had attended Mass Mob and so did many of the people in line. It was too bad that the restaurant could not accommodate this many people. It was very cold outside and the door was held open by the people trying to get in., The patrons having dinner complained they were cold and so was their food. It then turned into a MOB atmosphere, with people shouting to shut the door and people trying to crowd inside. Customers wanted to get their names on a list and to know how long the wait time might be. Several people pushed through claiming they had reservations, but, then were not seated. There were empty booths, but, there did not seem to be anyone organizing seating. Some customers did NOT act as if they had just been at church!!! The situation was very uncomfortable. We decided to leave when we were shoved and treated rudely by people trying to get ahead of us in line. We feel this all could have been avoided by having an employee at or outside the door advising wait time and keeping the door closed. The food looked and smelled good, unfortunately we didn't get a chance...
