This used to be my go-to spot for Chicken FAR AND ABOVE anything that has ever come out of a Chick-Fil-A or KFC kitchen. When they were at the old location I feel like they had better Quality Control. I'm sorry to say that todays visit was the last straw for me.
Before I say anything I just want to say thank you for getting rid of that self-serve Kiosk; I absolutely hated using that thing.
Cross Contamination : The gentleman working in the back was not only cooking but he was walking out to the lobby serving tables. He also cleaned the nozzles on the soda machine while wearing the same apron he wore in the prep area, this increases the potential for cross - contamination. This guy had good hustle though, I really do appreciate a hard worker who's busting their butt to get things done. I sincerely hope he's getting the recognition deserved for the effort put in to keep things running smoothly.
Sanitation : The soda machine was not cleaned properly. My friend and I found black specks inside of our cups so we pulled off the nozzles on two different taps to inspect them, we found they were very dirty. The machine might need to be serviced because once the nozzles had been cleaned, my friend went for a refill and still found black specks inside his cup of Sierra Mist.
Food Quality : It seems like the portions on french fries keep getting smaller and smaller also; 2 oz of dipping sauce for 5 pieces of Chicken?? I ordered Chicken Tenders and they were bland. This was my 3rd visit where I've given the Tenders a shot hoping they would be ok and they still weren't. I found them partially battered and falling apart which tells me the cooks probably cut 'em open to make sure they're completely cooked before serving which is appreciated, but a food probe will take care of that for you.
Presentation : Sauce was brought out with dry crust around the rims; I know spills happen when you're pouring into tiny portion cups, but it takes one second to wipe them off before it gets to the table.
The staff was friendly, I have no complaints there; even when I brought up the soda situation to the Manager on duty he took care of it as soon...
Read moreI've been visiting The Chicken Shack on and off for the past year or two. At first, the food was pretty good. Not the best thing in town, but certainly not the worst. It was worth the money.
Recently, however, I feel that the quality of the food has dropped exponentially.
First and foremost, try not to order online. The last time I made an online order, I didn't get the "ready for pickup" text until well over an hour later (order was placed at 4:45pm for context). I can overlook this if the food was amazing, but sadly it was not.
Me and my girlfriend both ordered their famous (or maybe "infamous" now...) Buffalo chicken fries. The fries were very clearly at least a day old. ZERO crispiness whatsoever. They tasted like they were made in a microwave, I'm not exaggerating. They also weren't hot at all. The chicken was decent, if a little on the dry side. I can look past this if the sauce is great to make up for it (which it usually is a pretty solid sauce).
I ordered mine using garlic fries. Don't make the same mistake I did. The garlic wasn't minced at ALL, there was whole garlic cloves just scattered in the fries. Seriously, there was cloves as big as the pieces of chicken. It would be better at this point to just season the fries with garlic salt. It's unfortunate, because if they mastered garlic fries they would be probably the only place in town with good garlic fries.
So after all is said and done I paid 20 dollars for old, rubbery fries with one of them having whole cloves of garlic mixed in with the chicken. It's off putting biting down on an entire clove of garlic.
Not to mention, they are almost ALWAYS backed up and/or behind on orders. Expect to wait 20 minutes for food there after you order.
The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because I've experienced good food from them before, sadly I can't say that has been the case recently. This last visit was likely my last for a very long time, and if I do decide to give them another shot, I am most definitely not using their online...
Read moreFirst and last time trying Chicken Shack. The new location is a train wreck. My family and I ordered our food through the kiosk at 4:07. Around 4:37 I went to ask about our cups and ask how much longer it would be. The kid behind the register told me another 10-15 minutes. I hardly ever get mad at a restaurant because I understand it’s busy, but I mentioned we were already waiting 30 minutes. Around 40 minutes into our wait they came out to tell us that they didn’t have Mac-Cheese. They said the food was about to be done in less than 5 minutes. 10 minutes later I went to ask for my money back. I saw the burgers on the grill and the cook pull out bacon from the freezer and toss it over the fire for less than 30 seconds and that is not me being a Karen. This was for my kids burgers and I saw them come out basically raw. I scooted to the side and saw that the staff consisted of a bunch of teens that were laughing and joking around. At this point I asked for a refund only to be told that they didn’t know how to refund money from a kiosk order and that they have already tried to get a hold of Ricky the manager to do refunds that same day. The hour that I was there I saw countless people come in because the drive thru order was wrong and the dine in customers we basically had a line to make a complaint. So now I have to wait a day and call to get my refund. Honestly wouldn’t even bother going to the new location. Apparently the old location was quicker but they would still...
