We are from out of town and saw the reviews and wanted a tasty breakfast, I ended up leaving in tears after having 3 bites of food, it was one of the worst encounters of my life. My friend and I used to be tattoo artists and have more tattoos than the people at this diner I guess have ever seen…even though there is a tattoo shop next door.we walked in and all of the staff and regulars stared at us and started talking rudely about us very loudly, unfortunately we are very used to, we knew when getting tattoos some people would talk and stare so that honestly didn’t bother us, we are used to it. I just smiled as I always do and we found a seat. The green haired waitress who took our order was very sweet, she accidentally got one of the orders completely wrong so we told her very nicely about the mistake, she apologized, said she misunderstood and would put in the right order, we said it’s ok and thanked her. About 1 minute later a little angry lady who I’m guessing is the “manager” came over with the old order asking for an explanation on what was wrong, when explained that there were no vegetables in the vegetable omelette that was ordered she angrily took it and walked off, she came back not long after with the vegetable omelette which looked delicious! The sweet original waitress with green hair came back over to see how things were, we let her know it was delicious but the Swiss cheese on top that was requested originally was not on there which was fine and no big deal but we just didn’t want to be charged extra for it. Not 2 minutes later the angry “manager” came back over and was extremely aggressive and rude saying “you never asked for Swiss cheese, my waitress feels like she did something wrong and she didn’t, you didn’t ask for it!” Her tone was raised and she seemed like she was personally angry at both of us, I started to pity her, she must be so miserable to treat people like that. The angry little “manager” then saw on the original ticket ‘add Swiss cheese on top’ she immediately (before either one of us had said anything yet because we were both in shock this was happening when we had been nothing but polite and friendly) said very aggressively when I came to ask what was wrong you didn’t ask for Swiss on top then…. Still somewhat shocked by her misplaced anger and stupidity we said, “it’s really not a big deal, it’s okay” she started in again angrily repeating herself “you didn’t tell me you wanted Swiss when I came to fix the order!” I guess it was our fault for not reminding her of the Swiss cheese and thinking she’d just pay attention. This crazy interaction was absolutely not necessary! We were both very polite and nice to the waitress when we simply just asked her to please not charge us the extra for the cheese but forgetting it was “not a big deal at all and don’t worry about it” There was no reason for the “manager” to come over and get loud, angry and aggressive. I had 3 bites of my food which was very good but I was so upset I had lost my appetite and just wanted to get out of there asap!! I got up in tears and went to the register and paid the $43.00 bill and I left a $10.00 tip because it was not the green haired waitresses fault that her “manager” is such a judgmental, angry person. We don’t look like people from this quaint small town because we are traveling pastors from California. It hurt my heart that people treated us so poorly because of our tattoos, we dress and present ourselves very nicely. We are always kind to everyone we come in contact with and we try to spread the word of Jesus Christ to everyone we possibly can and we have been for the past 15 years. We had plans to explore this cute town but after that interaction I got in the car crying and wanted nothing more than to leave. I pray the people at this diner can learn not to judge others by their looks and to be kind to everyone, it was truly one of the most hurtful, terrible experiences I’ve had. The food is great… BUT if you don’t look like others in the town I would definitely...
Read moreThis being the only breakfast joint which opens at 7am, my 7 yo & I walked into the all-Caucasian-male-filled diner and were not sure what to do. Fortunately, one of the patrons waved at us & told us to sit anywhere we want.
After about 5 min of wait, Brooklyn, our wait staff & the only wait staff at that busy time, greeted us & made us right at home. She patiently listen to my 7 yo's request for chicken strips, and patiently explained that there was only one cook in the kitchen, which made it unlikely to happen, because the chicken strips are hand breaded & cook and he will therefore make the rest of the patrons wait if my daughter were to insist on it.
We settled for kids pancake+bacon+sunny side up egg+strawberry milk. I had an over easy egg, has rone, and 1/2 order of biscuits +gravy.
Food came to us in literally seconds. Serving size was adequately huge.
My 7 yo asked a vanilla sundae to go. Being just as she was, Brooklyn nonetheless kept up her warm & friendly smile, and took care of all the patrons singlehandedly before another wait staff...
Read moreI don't know what happened, but at some point in time this place went SEVERELY downhill. They were never super quick (but nothing below average), but now they are so slow they're at a stand still. I understand that there are staffing issues with everyone right now, but that doesn't give the staff here the right to be so incredibly rude. We just had to walk out because after 50 minutes of waiting (I timed it), our simple meals were no where in sight and the staff didn't give any indication that there was going to be such a long wait. We informed the staff we had to leave due to it being my lunch hour, but then the waitress felt the need to argue with us - as well as the kitchen staff chiming in. Their attitudes caused another couple to leave at the same time as us, complaining as well. I don't know how this place manages to stay in business. I'm definitely never going...
