It had been years since I had been to Perkins- we moved out of state. And I have always told people about perkins, cuz it's good food, large portions and cheap! Those things haven't really changed. Love the omelets, they are delicious. And you can pretty much just tell them what you would like to have, what combo of things, even if it's not exactly on the menu and they can work it out for you. Everyone has always always been super nice. Sort of weird with covid. I remember the place always having a good amount of people there so its a little weird seeing it so empty. But anyway, everyone wears masks, tables are spaced out, there's some sort of plastic up around dividers to separate certain areas better. Have to wear mask when walking in and out but can take them off at table. Only thing was I thought there was a slight floral taste to some things.. like maybe a cleaner they have to use.. but it honestly could have been because of the soap they have in the bathroom which my daughter and I used to wash our hands before eating. Since it was the fries and things we used with our fingers that had the taste. But I honestly can't remember if thats what the soap smelled like. My husband did say he thought the cokes had a slight chemical taste, but I couldn't taste that. Our son had no complaints about any of the food/drinks. Maybe it was the kind of sterile covid atmosphere that got to us. This was our first time eating inside anywhere since covid. So it could have been all in our heads. Im curious to know if anyone ends up tasting the same thing or not. But even still, the...
Read moreI am a dialysis patient in Hanover, PA, and my mother usually takes me for breakfast afterwards. I choose Perkins this particular morning. So I order my usual breakfast; everything omelet with hash brown potatoes and a mammoth blueberry muffin. Mom orders the same. So our food arrives to our table hot and fresh, but my belly is doing the flip-flop thing. I try my hardest to attempt to eat my meal, just couldn't do it. Our wonderful waitress comes by sees that I haven't touched my plate: everything OK she asks. I said that I just wasn't feeling to well. I ask for a to go container, and I patiently wait for my mom to finish her meal. The waitress is busy back and forth and around and around non-stop. She takes the time holding a what looks like a tray from the table she just cleared, and asked me if I would like a ginger-ale and some saltines? Really she must of already had 10 customers. For her to be that concerned about my well being while I was there; just went above and beyond any restaurant experience I have ever encountered. I wish desperately I could remember her name, but she knows who she is. What a beautiful individual and a God sent as well. Now don't get me wrong Perkins has excellent food no matter what your in the mood for, they do it all. They do it well. Besides the great food, the staff is pretty awesome too. If your in Hanover, PA and are looking for a nice setting and fast quality center service and a meal to fill you up......
Read moreNice curbside service but there's only one curbside/to-go parking space. Employees wear masks and don't ask you to sign anything for orders placed online. Orders are ready on time.
Food is alright. Not a lot to choose from and prices can be too high for the amount of food you get depending on what you order. If you choose wisely the amount of food vs price is better but portions seem to also depend on who happens to be working the kitchen that day because some to-go orders have noticeably more hash browns and scrambled eggs than other times.
Denny's does breakfast better but has terrible service while Perkins food is average with great service. The food won't wow you but it's a nice average straightforward meal for an alright-ish price.
The kids meals are great for the price and amount of items in each meal. The pancakes kids meal comes with the main item, a side, a cookie and a drink in a nice reusable plastic cup. It's a nice variety of items for a single kids meal.
I'd go more if they had a larger menu. It is oddly small for a restaurant of their size. Or at least have a reasonably priced option to customize your meal and mix and match your breakfast items because their set breakfast meals with few customization doesn't always cut it when you'd prefer to pick and choose just the items you actually want. Also I'd love more pancake options than plain. Denny's definitely beats them for pancake options...
