I was there for a number of weeks but from day one I was always greeted by name. Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff.
One of the very few hotels where the housekeeping staff noticed that I hung the towels indicating that I didn't need new ones. In virtually all other hotels, no matter what you did, the towels, soap etc were renewed every day. Well done housekeeping! Only one little complaint was that the windows could not be opened in the rooms. Admittedly, I was in smoking rooms but they all had an odd smell. The corridors had a strong "air freshener" smell and the room smell was like an old stale version of this. Don't know if the AC units brought in fresh air or just recycled it. It didn't seem to make a difference if I put it on just fan, cool or turned it off when I wasn't in the room. Maybe the filters need changing more regularly or maybe it was just me :-) Oddly, the first room I stayed in was a suite and that smelled nice and fresh like the corridors every day.
I prefer to have a room with two double beds. I spend most of my time in the room at the desk either working on my laptop or eating and like to watch the TV from there. The layout of the regular rooms meant that the fridge/microwave tower was next to the desk and blocked your view of the TV. You could see about 2/3 of the screen with the TV swiveled towards you but in rooms that were the mirror image the remote sensor was covered by the tower and you had to get up to use the remote.
The AC unit was right next to the desk and you had to turn it off while sitting at the desk to avoid being frozen, cooked or blown out of...
Read moreStayed here for our cousins wedding and it was enjoyable. We normally stay at Hilton hotels but I think IHG has come a long way. They are currently under construction from what the note at the entrance of the lobby. We didn’t see much or hear much which is good considering we arrived there early Friday afternoon. Dining room is ample, rooms are nicely updated and the best part is that they have great water pressure!!! Tv in our room had great cable channels to watch and no extra fee. Nice size mini fridge with a microwave. Writing desk and a sitting chair with ottoman to read a book. I was definitely impressed since my husband and I travel for work every now and then so it means a lot. Remember it’s not a 5 star luxury $2000.00 a night hotel but for simple stays it’s great. For the people who seem to forget toiletries all the time, they provide Dove body lotion, shampoo, conditioner and body wash that’s attached to the shower wall yay!!! Only negative thing they didn’t have was a safe for our expensive watches and jewelry. Bed had a med weight down comforter, nice down pillows. Thermostat that worked very well but a bit loud. Ice and vending machines by the elevator. Complementary breakfast that was so delicious!!! They set out a hot bar with Scrambled eggs, sausage patties, cinnamon rolls, automated pancake maker that makes pancakes in 2 mins. Cereal bar, fridge stocked with milk and juices. Exercise room that was clean. Best of all, the staff was absolutely wonderful and so...
Read moreI wrote a review and when I tried to submit it, a message said I had to rewrite it because I referenced another hotel brand. I went back and the review had been erased, so I have to start over, which is even more annoying. My mother and I were there 2 nights for my nephew’s funeral. The woman who checked us in and out was fabulous, as was Brian, who helped me a great deal. The second day the coffee pods were not replenished, and the bathroom sink was not wiped down. This was not a huge deal, and I wouldn’t mention it had the second thing not happened. The second night my mom said she had been cold the night before, so I tried to call for an extra blanket. The labeled buttons on the phone didn’t work, so I dialed 0. After a dozen rings I hung up and called again. I tried calling for several minutes with no answer, so I put my coat on over my pajamas and went to the front desk. I yelled ‘hello’ several times but no one answered. The door marked housekeeping was unlocked so I went in to look for a blanket. I didn’t find one, so grabbed a handful of clean sheets instead. When I came out, two women were standing there looking at me as if I had stolen something. I told them what happened and they replied that they’d been outside smoking and I should have checked. No apology. I will stay elsewhere the next time...
