Mount Everest to Nepali Cuisine: One Mom. Five Kids. Unlimited Paneer.
After a morning of soggy science and kid-powered chaos at Whitaker Center, I heroically herded my five children into Mount Everest to Nepali Cuisine at Strawberry Square. Alone. Because I enjoy a challenge (and forgot to pack snacks).
At first glance, the cloth tablecloths and glass water cups whispered, “This is not a Benion-crew establishment.” But the staff? Absolutely unfazed. With Jedi-like calm, they dragged a few tables together, swapped in plastic cups for tiny hands, and made us feel totally at home—like they’d hosted a toddler-led dinner theater before.
The lunch buffet? A vegetarian paradise. My crew found plenty to love, but the palak paneer was the clear favorite—creamy, dreamy, and gone in seconds.
And then there’s Roland—our resident foodie, age 10, who took it upon himself to explore every vegetarian option on the buffet and even dipped into the (meatless) sauces from the non-veg side like a culinary adventurer. Lentils? Loved them. Curry? Devoured. Mysterious spicy chutney? “Ten out of ten, would burn again.” He left grinning and plotting his return. Honestly, if he starts a food blog, this lunch will be his origin story.
River’s review? “The water was too cold. A pea touched my rice. I hate everything.” So basically, a normal Tuesday for a three-nager. No notes.
The best part? With affordable lunch buffet pricing (even for kids!), it cost less than a drive-through meltdown at Burger King—and came with way fewer regrets.
We left full, happy, and slightly more cultured than when we walked in. Except for River. She left exactly the same.
Final verdict: Amazing food, kid-friendly vibes, and staff who don’t flinch at five hungry wildcards. We’ll absolutely be back. Probably covered in science experiments. Possibly wearing mismatched shoes....
Read moreI had an amazing experience at this Indian restaurant! The buffet lunch at just $12.99 is a fantastic deal, offering 15 delicious courses and dessert. The food was full of flavor, with the fried rice being particularly delicious—light and perfectly cooked with less oil. The grilled chicken was by far the best I've had, and the unlimited fresh naan was the perfect accompaniment. The spice level is also adjustable, making it great for all tastes. On top of that, the customer service was excellent, and there was no wait time at all. I highly recommend this place for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine with great value and...
Read moreI left very pleased with my experience.
I paid $12.99 for the lunch buffet on a Friday afternoon. What a value! Great flavor and variety. 10+ sauces and chutneys to choose from. A mostly vegetarian buffet that also had 3 chicken dishes available. Fresh salad bar. Naan was very well made. They also have a full menu available.
Staff was friendly and accommodating.
I'm glad that we have a Nepali and Indian option downtown again.
