We had never had Indonesian food before but while visiting the area we were very intrigued to give it a try and we were not disappointed. We were warmly greeted by our server, Anna as soon as we walked in the door. It's a very small space but they are taking Covid precautions seriously. If there isn't room, I like the fact you can order food and take it to the brewery a few steps away. They are only allowing a certain amount of patrons in, all staff wear masks and they ask that you wear masks as much as possible. This made us comfortable and we appreciated it. We had the sampler for the appetizer. Some of it was vegetarian. We are not vegetarian but it didn't matter, the flavors were amazing and it was all delicious. The food is very fresh. We shared our entrees of the slow cooked chicken and salmon. Again, both excellent. So much flavor. I was also very impressed by how good even the vegetables were. I hate carrots and I ate all of mine. The iced tea is also delicious. We were full so didn't have dessert but I don't doubt it would have been amazing. If you get a chance, try this place. Next time we are in the area, we will be back. And special thanks to our server Anna. What a true joy she is. So so kind and sweet. What a pleasure she made our experience!...
Read moreWe were in town for a snow tubing trip in Massanutten. We decided to venture out one night into Harrisonburg and found this place on trip advisor as one of the top places to eat. It is a small cafe with maybe 4-5 tables. We arrived early around 5pm and were seated right away. I did notice of the tables were already reserved so that’s an option also. We also noticed alot of people picking up food to go. So even though a small place, it was quite busy.
Our server was very pleasant, friendly, and helpful since it was our first time eating here, and for some, first time eating Indonesian fare. We perused the menu and decided to share a bunch of the entrees. Chicken satay, spiced salmon, Beef redang, Indonesian noodles, papaya salad appetizer, and macaroons for dessert. Each entree came with white steamed rice and a vegetable medley. All of it was delicious!! We barely had leftovers( the rice only!!!) yes even the sauces were sopped up quickly, esp the satay sauce. I could just eat that alone with a spoon! 😂The food came out pretty fast all cooked to order. I would highly recommend a trip here if you’re in town and want something different. We would definitely come back next trip here. The kids (age7)...
Read moreBoboko is my absolute favorite restaurant in Harrisonburg. They always have the best staff, and the food is wonderful. They are extremely accommodating to food sensitivities, and have always gone above and beyond to avoid cross contamination when my mom with celiac disease dines here. Recently, I called on graduation day (when the restaurant was extremely busy), and I asked if they could properly accommodate for a celiac customer that day. The person on the phone was extremely kind, and he told me that he would not recommend dining on that day because it wouldn’t be 100% safe (and was extremely apologetic, knowing that that can normally accommodate for celiac). For people with serious food sensitivities and allergies, this is a huge deal that made me that much more confident in their ability to prepare food that is safe for my mom. It takes great honesty and kindness to disclose when that is not an option rather than shrugging it off and hoping for the best. Love the people and and...
