Waffle House has ALWAYS been a family fav.... When I went in waffle house I tried 2 stores...the first Waffle House only had counter service due to lack of help...but the attitude of a woman in charge was basically rude...she said we have no help and since there are only 2 of us here counter service is all I can offer...that I understood, but the way she said it to me with NO eye contact...I said...no worries...left...about 3 hours later driving towards NY from Virginia we saw a second Waffle House...there was a similar issue, but we decided to stay and eat on the counter...this time there were 7 workers at Waffle house...with the same reasoning..."we only have 1 server and myself the cook"...we were starving now...no breakfast till 3:15 pm...eggs were ordered over easy but the eggs were put on the plate upside down with the top of the egg on the bottom and just not cooked enough...very wet...whites were not cooked...I did not say anything since it seemed like there was attitude here also. The cook had a new server...2 weeks there(I asked the server)...he was new but attentive... The waffles at the Waffle House were not completely cooked...the timer went off, but both sides were cooked pail in color...PS: I'm a chef for 52 years and these waffles were edable, but not correctly cooked... I also looked around and WAFFLE HOUSE CORPORATION needs to re-vamp their stores...the Waffle House stores both looked very dated...I have been going to waffle house since 1985...I have always LOVED this Breakfast Place...I understand COVID-19 has caused employment shortages all over...so that is understood about lack of help...but a breakfast cook that looked like she knew what she was doing...WAS NOT DOING IT CORRECTLY...I didn't want to cause more stress for the cook...so we ate the waffles...under cooked eggs...drank the great coffee...wonderful hashbrowns...mediocre sausage Patty tipped the server and left... Seriously overstating the "NEED TO RE-VAMP ALL THE STORES"...CRACKER BARREL AS WELL AS OTHER BREAKFAST SPOTS OFF ROUTE 81 IN PENNSYLVANIA ALL HAS EMPLOYMENT SHORTAGES IN SERVERS... Read moreThis restaurant was the dirtiest that I have ever set foot in,bathroom was filthy, table was sticky as was everything on the table. We arrived at 4:50 PM and were immediately greeted by a waiter. The menu was not clear as to what was included with meals. When we asked for specifics the waiter had to ask a coworker. After placing our order we had waited approximately 20 minutes and still had not received our food. During that time there was only one other occupied table, which had already received their food. 20 minutes after we ordered a couple was seated at the next table. They ordered the same two meals as we had. They had their food in 5 minutes. The cook still had not put our order on the grill. We told the manager to cancel our order because we were traveling and in a hurry. She said she was sorry and if we stayed she would have our order ready in 4 minutes and give us a big discount on the bill. The food still took twice as long from that time as the same order took for the people seated next to us. We choked down the overpriced nasty food and had to hunt down someone to bring our check,which came without any discount at all. When we reminded her about what she had promised, she took $1 off and refused to do any better. It took over 50 minutes for 2 fried eggs and toast and a cheeseburger and coke. Read moreRacist server :( Unfortunately we had a bad experience and it wasn't even due to the altercation that happened while we were there. When we arrived there was an argument between a cook and a customer. Customer was very irate, yelling, cussing, and the police were called. The trouble started when our server an older woman named Robin sat down at the table with us and said some very offensive racist things. She stated "black people always come in here acting like rude little kids, they yell and cause a fuss every week, white people would never act like this they know better." I was shocked and did not know how to respond. She also talked poorly about her coworker (a black man) who was being yelled at by the customer stating "I just don't understand why he even has a job here. He's lazy like all of them are." It's scary that she felt so comfortable speaking with strangers about this and I won't be returning. I've written to corporate and hopefully they follow up.
This is not important but worth saying.....she also got our order incorrect three times and appeared angry when we did not want the peanut butter waffle we hadn't ordered. There were lots of flies buzzing around and the window had handprints and syrup all over it. I love a nasty waffle house but this was...
