The Heights Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Hasbrouck Heights

Wanted to give 3.5 stars but rounded up to 4 rather than down to 3.

Came here with coworkers (7 people) on a Friday ~5pm. We were asked if we had a reservation despite the place having only a few people. We were seated at a table but had asked for one of the larger booths and were told we couldn't have those despite the fact that while we were there the booths didn't actually get filled up with patrons. Floor is a bit greasy/slippery but otherwise the place is fine. Another coworker asked another staff if we could have a booth and were given a booth.

We ordered a couple of beers from the menu but the first 5-7 beers we asked for weren't even available despite them being in the beer menu. I ended up ordering a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat but it tasted a little off. The beers were supposed to be $1 to $3 off depending on whether it was bottle or draft between 4-7pm weekdays, but I'm not sure if that was applied. The menu said happy hour appetizers are buy one get one 1/2 off which was not honored. To be fair, we were warned by the waitress about this one, so I didn't mind especially since restaurants suffered during the pandemic.

About 4 of us got burgers. Mine was supposed to be medium rare and my co-worker's rare, but we both got well done. Burgers were not bad overall. Empanada appetizers are fried/crispy. Spinach dip was what we expected. My coworkers liked the bang bang shrimp but I didn't get to taste it.

We've seen the billboard on Pleasantville Ave for some time now, and this time, we were hungry, so we decided to try.

When we walked in, it was as if we walked into Cheers' bar where the locals look at the strangers walking in LOL

No one was around, so we just sat at a table, and a waitress came with the menu a couple of mins later.

Hubby loves Guinness, and they had it on tap, so he was happy 😊

We ordered:

Bang Bang Shrimp - it was not good... it was just mayo covered slightly fried shrimp.

French Onion Soup - it was good but not much onion, and it didn't taste like beef stock. It was also a lighter color, I wonder if it was turkey or pork broth.

Grilled Cheese with Prosciutto - this was good.

B.L.A.T. - bacon lettuce avocado and tomato - it was ok, not enough bacon, though...

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT from start to finish…ordered a plate on the menu that clearly states the dish included sides, however turns out the menu was misleading and no sides were offered. Should have walked out right then and there, because what I was served was a handful of soggy fries and 4-5 bite size pieces of protein for what they call fish and chips, not even coleslaw or tartar sauce to compliment the plate…I have no idea what kind of fish that was, but it definitely didn’t have that familiar white, flaky texture but rather grayish in color with a mushy feel, maybe undercooked? the worst part was paying $25 for what looked like a happy meal of chicken nuggets (which actually tastes better than this meal) just to throw it away in the garbage when I saw what it looked and tasted like AFTER getting home.
