There are no shortages of places to eat in Hattiesburg, and over the years we’ve eaten at just about all them. However, it’s been a long time since we’ve eaten at a place that absolutely floored us. The last time we were blown away by such great food and service, it was after eating at Gris-Gris in New Orleans a few years ago. Buschman’s is not the type of restaurant you’d expect in Hattiesburg. It’s more a San Francisco/New York level of fine dining. When we walked in, we thought maybe they were setting for a large party. All the tables are covered in white linens, silverware and glasses are already set and every employee that sees you welcomes you with a smile. The servers will lay your napkin in your lap, and they know the menu very well and can recommend a perfect wine pairing with each entree. Be sure to go with an appetite because you’ll want to order appetizer to dessert. We started with the fried green tomatoes with burnt end pork belly and onion jam. If you’ve never had onion jam, go now to this place to try it. Entrees we had Osso Buco and Triple Tail. Both were absolutely amazing. For dessert it was a chocolate mousse with a fresh brownie hidden inside. The only part of the dessert that was not made in house, was the glass it was served in. This is NOT a “joint to eat at”. This is a place to experience food, wine and cocktails at their absolute best. They let you take your time so you can relax and enjoy your cocktails, the food and the time with your friends or loved ones. If you live in the pine belt, or are traveling to the area because of attractions like The Lucky Rabbit (a few blocks over) or Home Town 30 minutes down the road, this is an absolute must...

My husband and I went here on date night. We had reservations and really enjoyed ourselves. I feel the menu was not very diverse but the experience was excellent. We are in our thirties and felt pretty "young" here. Mostly all of the crowd was older and Caucasian. We stood out like a sore thumb but nonetheless, we definitely had a good time. It's quite an experience, more upscale and perfect for date night and special occasions. We dressed up nicely for date night but some customers were in jeans and button downs, so no dress code here. But if you decide to dress up, you surely won't be overdressed. There was a good mixture. There was an older African American gentleman circling the restaurant who came over to ask us about our meal and our experience. I think this was so thoughtful and made us feel very welcome! Our server was Spencer. I like that he didn't "talk down" to us when telling the specials of the evening. Some nicer restaurants assume young and black means "unseasoned" so they'll give a definition for everything on the menu or "dumb it down" as if we aren't smart enough to know what certain things are. I appreciated our server for speaking to us like adults, in that aspect. We enjoyed the food and loved all the antique pieces throughout the restaurant. I loved that the servers all worked together as well. Everyone was very friendly. Absolute favs, the complimentary bread and the blueberry cheesecake for dessert! Yum! We're looking forward to going back...

Absolutely the best experience I have had so far in Hattiesburg. From the moment my husband and I stepped into this restaurant until the moment we left we felt as if we were guests of honor. Their decorum is impeccable. The service was superb. Every single Employee was so welcoming and polite. It was SO CLEAN and decorated so perfectly. The food is the best I have had so far in my life and I’ve been all over the U.S. We were celebrating our Anniversary and they so graciously treated us to complimentary Champaign!! The oysters were perfect 👌 the red fish and grits delectable, the crab cakes were something I’ll be wanting more of until I can go back and the cheese cake was absolutely in the top 2 favorite deserts I’ve ever tried. Lastly The pricing was SO FAIR! We will be back and I cannot wait! 10/10 hats off to the chef and the entire team this is a wonderful business and operation whoever put this place together is very talented. Thank you Buschmans for a wonderful anniversary dinner and experience!!! We wish you...

I highly recommend the Bushman Cafe. Every detail exceeded our expectations from the moment we walked in the door. The staff and owner redefine the experience of impeccable service. We ordered the chicken and the fried oyster caesar salad and for dessert the amaretto crème brûlée. We cleaned our plates with smiles and happy bellies. Bushman Cafe is truly a southern gem. If you’re looking for a full culinary experience this place nails it with service, food, drinks and ambience. We truly felt like guests. Our server Brian was genuine and knowledgeable and we even met the owner, Terry, who took the time to come over to our table and say hello. You have to see for yourself just how delicious, charming and inviting in every way the Bushman Cafe is! We only had one night in Hattiesburg on a cross country road trip and the Bushman Cafe made our stop well beyond worth it!
