Zelaya's bakery — Restaurant in Hattiesburg

Seen this bakery on TikTok. I decided to make the 1.5 hour drive to check out the viral deserts. The prices were not bad. They’re pretty consistent with other places that offer these. 12-15.00 each. They have so many deserts, pastries, and specialty deserts to choose from and they all looked amazing. The employees are very friendly and helpful. I wish I could have tried one of everything. They also have a food menu where they offer numerous items like Tamales, Empanadas, Churros, and even specialty smoothies. I definitely recommend you visit when in the area. I spent $60.00 on the below deserts which I admit, seems like a lot of money for what it is, but you only live once, right? I will say, each desert is big enough for two people. My husband and I shared each and even had some of each one left. While they’re not as large as some you see online, I think they’re just the right size for two.

I purchased the Peach, Pear, Lemon, and Strawberry. My thoughts on each are below. (Rated 1-10)

#1 - Pear - 8 out of 10 ( I was shocked at this because I’m not a huge fan of pear.

#2- Strawberry - 8 out of 10 ( the only reason I give it an 8 is because I wasn’t crazy about the strawberry jam like filling)

#3- Peach - 5 out 10- the chocolate coating was great, but I didn’t like the peach filling as much as I thought I would.

4 - Lemon- 4 out of 10- I’m not happy about this one, lemon is usually my favorite and I had such high hopes for this one, but the lemon flavor wasn’t as great, it tasted so much like zest (IYKYK) it was quite tart which I enjoyed but the lemon flavor was just off.

Oh my goodness, where do I even begin?! This bakery is hands down the most amazing bakery I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly baked goods wafts over you and immediately transports you to a world of pure baked deliciousness.

Let's start with the food. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is absolutely delicious. The croissants are flaky and buttery, the bread is crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, and the pastries are simply divine. The macarons are delicate and flavorful, and the cakes are so moist and rich that you'll never want to eat any other cake again.

But what really sets this bakery apart is their customer service. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, and they truly go above and beyond to make sure that their customers are happy. They are always happy to provide recommendations and answer any questions.

And let's not forget about the freshness of their food. Everything is baked fresh daily, so you know that you're getting the very best quality. You can taste the difference in every bite.

This bakery is truly a gem, and it's the only bakery in town that's worth visiting. I've tried all the other bakeries in town, and none of them even come close to the deliciousness and quality of Zelaya's. It's clear that the bakers and staff pour their hearts and souls into everything they do, and it truly shows in the food and customer service.

I owe a lot of props to the awesome people at Zelaya's Bakery. This morning we found someone in our unit got selected for a promotion. My boss wanted a custom cake to celebrate which is really freakin' hard to pull off short notice.

I screamed over to Zelaya's, the closest bakery nearby, and hoped they did more than just pastries.

I went inside and saw some cakes which gave me a little confidence considering I needed to have a cake ready to go in two hours.

I talked to one if the employees and boy did their eyes get wide when I told them I needed a cake in two hours.

They looked nervous but surprisingly agreed. I told them what I needed I left.

I had a gut feeling this could turn out bad.

Two hours later, I show back up fully expecting them not to be ready and to my surprise, they brought the cake up to the front.

It looked amazing. They used a edible printable graphic with the correct military rank and everything. The icing was smooth and the border icing piping (if that's what you call it) was on point.
