Homegrown Cone — Restaurant in Hawaii

No idea how it all worked out but...

This was the first visit to Hawai'i for both of us. It was a work trip and then we were able to extend it for a few days. We headed to the Kona area for a bit of snorkeling/kayaking (loved every bit of it!). Found a glossy advert for the Kona Coffee Festival - which would be happening the very days we were in the area, so fortunate. So Much Coffee to sample... and then, there it was... a cart serving ice cream (forgot to mention it was OMG HOT and particularly humid). And then we saw that the sign really said as REAL FRUIT Ice Cream, not just ice cream.

The ice cream was so beautiful, that really is the right word - BeAuTiFul. This wasn't ice cream with chunky bits of hard frozen fruit. This was soft, rich, thick ice cream that was blended (right there in front of you) with LOCAL fruit which had already been pureed, and then thoroughly blended into pretty much perfect, fresh, ice cream-freaking-bliss.

The only downside is that we opted for a small serving, to share. Don't do it. Get your very own serving.

When we come back to the Kona area we will try very hard to find this wonderful little cart and the truly lovely couple (and that precious, no - i meant vicious 😉 wee dog) who own it. Unforgettable - 5 stars is totally...

This Hawaiian hidden gem is not so hidden if walking the streets to shop. (Note to owners, check your google location as it does not come up when just looking at a map. You will receive much more business if location is correct and it pops up when just zooming in on that location.)

Back to the review: This cold treat on a hot day was more than perfect. Every single spoonful was a frosty little vacation for my taste buds. The flavors danced like hula on my tongue, and the rainbow option looked like Bob Ross came back from the dead just to color my cup. 🌈🍧

It felt do much better than the traditional desserts here on the island as they use locally sourced fruits in their dessert.

On top of how amazing this was, they also validate parking when parking next door at the Coffee shop. They give ample time for you to eat your treat and go for a walk or shop around. Will be visiting again in the next 24 hours as it was spectacular and we are already...

Homegrown Cone in Kona is an absolute treat! The ice cream is not only delicious but also incredibly unique, with flavors that highlight the best of what Hawaii has to offer.
