This is a gem that I didnt know I needed in my life.
Food: It's the perfect ratio of rice to meat or egg or whatever you have inside. The chef does a wonderful job displaying the food, it puts other musubi places back home to shame. The food tastes just right and portion sizes hit the spot. I need more of this place in my life. Now let's talk about the best part of the meal, that home-made kimchi. Honestly this chef's twist of kimchi has me needing more. I am officially addicted and I can't stop thinking about how good that kimchi is. When we left, we were talking about the kimchi for several houra after. I'd pay extra for a bottle or jar of the kimchi, just so I can take it home.
Environment: It's a pretty chill Environment with good vibes. From the smallest little bowl to the cups, everything felt and looked great.
Service: The service was great! They took out order and it was ready pretty quick. We even had the chef come out and check on us. I'd day they did a better job than almost every place...
Read moreStopped by on a whim while on vacation. Hands down the best dining experience we had on the entire trip! We had their charcuterie the first time we popped by and it was phenomenal, so we came in for dinner service a few days later. Ali was a phenomenal host and Gerome made us an amazing meal. We had the scallops, ahi crudo, mushroom congee, beef bourgilo and the pork belly with coconut ube gratin. Every ingredient was paired and balanced so well. Scallops were cooked perfectly, soubise was sweet and flavorful, palmiers nice and crispy, fresh tuna, delightful avocado crema. The beef was fall apart tender and the wine and pineapple was a great combo. The mushrooms in the congee were fantastic and cooked perfectly. I am so glad we stumbled in here, the atmosphere was comfortable and modern, the owners treated us exceptionally well and the food was absolutely outstanding. I Highly recommend stopping in and showing this place some love and I wish them the...
Read moreWe ordered the seafood dip, loco moco, and the classic spam musubi. Honestly, it was the best food we had on the island. I’m from Oahu, so maybe my tastes are a little biased, but everything was outstanding. The location is great too with plenty of easy parking in the historic Hilo Bay area.
The seafood dip was like a little make your own mini musubi experience—creamy, cheesy, and something I could imagine at a really good family get-together. Edwin’s loco moco gravy was so good—thick, savory, and rich. Jordan’s spam in the musubi was the crispiest I’ve ever had and for me, the crispier the better. If I’m being picky, the rice was probably not sushi-grade, and the nori could have been crispier, but flavor-wise, everything we had was on point.
Prices were very reasonable and our server, Ku‘ulei, was very warm, friendly, and attentive. I highly...
