Not a great experience at all. Visited within a large party, thus the wait time for food was understandable, however serving a salad of all things lastly certainly is not, especially incorrectly. When they corrected my order and brought my chicken out once everyone else had finished their meals (some dishes were enjoyed a half-hour before mine was even served), I was extremely disappointed as it was literally inedible. To this day I remain skeptical that it was chicken I was fed. Bathroom is outside and very sketchy. Only one key, thus there was immense knocking and kicking of the door when the one key was in use and door was locked. Went back a second time and remain, roughly three weeks later, affected as the dish I was served was unbearably spicy (and this is coming from a spice connoisseur- I find virtually nothing spicy and enjoy such foods without question). I literally felt my tongue scorch as if I had just taken a sip of boiling liquid. My tongue is sensitive to date- feels very weird and now cannot handle spice for the life of me. A life-altering experience, but certainly not...
Read moreS topped in after landing in Kahului. It wasn’t too busy, but the karaoke section made it pretty loud (which makes sense—it’s a bar).
We ordered the bacon avocado burger, which uses Maui beef. The texture was a bit different but tasted good. The only downside was the raw onions, which didn’t add much to the burger. We also tried the Mahi Mahi wrap, and it was disappointing. It mostly consisted of hard lettuce chunks with a small amount of chopped-up Mahi Mahi that lacked flavor and didn’t taste fresh. Keeping the fish in whole strips might have made a big difference.
The fries on the side were crispy and hot—nothing special but decent. As for drinks, we tried the canned Kava, which was $12 and tasted more like an energy drink based on the ingredients. The “fresh” Kava was actually a powder mix and cost $24, so we skipped it. Our bill comes out closer to $60.
Overall, the experience was okay, but the food could use some...
Read moreWow-Wee Maui's Kava Bar & Grill delivers quality fish and seafood affordably. Had some really fresh sushi rolls, plates and pupu appetizers. Called in for a table for thirteen and the staff was friendly and helpful. They were able to sit us in the Birthday section. Time to celebrate! A few pupu apps, drinks and we're ready for entrees. Locals raved about their specials so we ordered the Katsu, a fresh light and crunchy breading on choice of chicken, fish or pork. The pork belly is outrageously delicious and shareable. Made our own pupu platter with Ribeye, calamari, gyoza and onion rings, they all arrived ready to share. The soft shell crabs were so good that I couldn't sneak in a pic. Sushi is fresh, crunchy and rolled well. Try the breaded California, you won't be disappointed. Wow-Wee was just that! Perfect for families, drinks,...
