Poke Don — Restaurant in Hayward

This is our go to poke place, and it's nice that it's closeish to home. The staff is nice, and the fish is usually pretty fresh. I also really appreciate the option of spicy tuna as the base protein, since most places only offer "crab", and I'm not a fan of that.

Ordering during covid is pretty similar to ordering before covid. You walk in and go through the different steps (base, proteins, sauces, toppings).

Getting there can be a little tricky if you don't know what you're looking for. I find that the most convenient way to get there from Winton is to turn right at the Chase (before the stop sign) and then turn left on the first parking area you can turn left at. I usually park in that area and then walk over, as there's very limited parking by the front unless you need handicap parking.

Disappointed with recent visits — serious concerns. I used to come here often and even recommended it to others, especially for larger group orders. Unfortunately, things have changed drastically. The staff on my last visit were extremely unprofessional — loud, distracted, and more focused on socializing than serving customers. One male employee in particular (I think his name was David) was especially dismissive and seemed either very tired or under the influence, which made the entire experience uncomfortable. It didn’t feel like anyone was properly trained or supervised, and I honestly questioned whether the food was being handled safely. After several visits to PokeDon in Hayward, it's high time to share our experience. The create-your-own Poké bowls offer a satisfying customization experience, which allows customers to tailor their meal to their liking. During our multiple visits, we've always enjoyed the service and our final selections.

Although prices have increased slightly, this is understandable and noticeable everywhere these days. An important note... while the inner parking lot can be a bit tight, venturing a bit further to the adjacent parking lot would be a better option.
