Whenever I get a sugar craving and see donuts, I can't say no. However, with Tommy's Donuts, make sure if you do go crazy for donuts you only get what you can finish for that day. Unfortunately I went on a binge and got some extra for the next day and it was pretty stale. I'd like to think that the donuts are made fresh for that day, but because my donuts were pretty stale the next day (even being covered), I'd like to question the freshness.
We got the strawberry cream cheese croissant, cinnamon roll and sugar donuts. Out of the selections, the sugar donut was probably the best selection. Unfortunately my husband couldn't even finish the strawberry cream cheese croissant. He took 2 bites and ended up tossing it out and wanting something to wash out the flavor. The cinnamon roll wasn't too bad, but I wish it had a little more cinnamon flavor.
One thing I am pretty disappointed with is the fact they put the 5 products in 2 bags. If I wanted my sugar donut I had to dig and take the cinnamon rolls out on my lap just to retrieve the donut. I felt they could have put it in a smaller box to make it convenient instead of throwing it all in 2 bags.
I give them a star because they're open to midday on a Sunday. It's hard to find donut shops open past noon.. and when a donut craving hits it's hard to...

Took a brisk early afternoon stroll in nearby Japanese Gardens, and was in major craving of some coffee coffee coffee with donuts (but, of course) afterwards, and Tommy’s looked to be the spot to achieve those cravings!
We were an hour shy of closing on a Saturday, so their donut selection was more limited. But fear not, still enough options to get what I came for. We both got two donuts each. Mine were a both crumbled options. Mm mm, soo good. That crumbled twist was EVERYTHING. And even better, cashier gave us three complementary donut holes each.
I also may have squealed at the end while still peeking at the donuts case and said OMG IS THAT ONE A BLUEBERRY CAKE?! I’LL BE BACK FOR YOU!
Hahah. Umm, and a week later, I was. Maybe a few days later. Anywho, that day was a bit busier. A group in front. Be a group in back. Soo “COVID-times” busy. Cashier wasn’t quite so friendly as the first visit. Donut selection was plentiful (we came a lot earlier in the day this time). Very different experience. Buttttt got my crumbled twist. Still yums. And so was that blueberry...
Read moreBest donut shop in the east bay up to the 580/24 passes to the tri-valley the family and I have found, and yes we've made it a point to search. We've even had a few weekends were my wife, son, and I have all driven in different directions to bring donus back at the same time and do a sampling.
Everyone has a different opinion about donuts, how dense and the type of glaze and how the maple is made so it's really up to people to make their own decisions. We've found donut shops that do particular types of donuts better than Tommy's, but as the best overall donut shop Tommy's gets our collective vote.
We've not tried a single donut style that was bad and Tommy's has a couple of styles they do better than the others, so about once a month one of us will run down in the morning and bring back a couple of bags for our breakfast enjoyment.
Service is fast, staff is nice, and the prices are reasonable, we recommend you...
