Bad service and racist server!!! I was so excited to go here today because I love their cocoa trifoglio but I was so disappointed about the service here today. First of all, it took about 10 minutes for them to go to our table to even give us water. Second, when we were ready with our order and tried to get the server's (Deanna) attention, she ignored us because she was busy counting the tip from the table next to us. Third, when she approached us, she didn't even smile or seemed & sounded friendly. Fourth, she asked my husband (referring to me): "And what is she going to have?" when I was waiting for her to just look at me and ask. Fifth, the one who gave us the first 3 pastas dropped one of the spoons on the table and then proceeded to stuff the spoon in the food. Sixth, she tapped my husband on the shoulder a few times to ask how the food was but ignored me. Seventh, The next 2 pastas were served after 30 mins. Eighth, at that point, I didn't want my chicken anymore since I wanted to eat it with my pasta. When we told Deanna to cancel it, she said she already had the kitchen fire it up and didn't apologize for the wait. Instead of apologizing for an hour wait, she made an excuse that she was staging it for us (without telling us!) and asked what my pasta was out of the 5 samplers. Does it even matter?! She then sulked and left. Ninth, after a few minutes (not even near closing time), she just laid the bill on our table without a word and without us asking for it. We were going to order more wine! Tenth, when she gave us our receipt, she laid it on the table again and didn't say anything. A simple thank you would have been nice since we were very courteous to her. Finally, as we were leaving, she said goodbye to my husband but not to me. She was oh-so-nice and joked with the white people next to our table and to my husband but she ignored me for the most part. Can't help but think she is racist. Not coming back and definitely spreading the word...
Read moreChalkboard used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I recently had to move to SoCal, but when I come to town for a visit, I make going to Chalkboard a priority. It was a slow Tuesday when I went in. The place was practically empty and I still had to wait over 20 minutes to be seated. The waitress put water on our table and didn't bother to pour water into my glass. I feel like the first glass should be filled by the waitress before she walks away. For my appetizer, I got the cheese board. The waitress brought the cheese board to my table and explained how one of the cheeses on the board was "gross" and said that most of cheese was not to be eaten. Everything on my plate should be edible. The portion size for the cheese plate was also surprisingly small for the price. I also got the duck rillette. It was overly salty and didn't even taste like duck. My husband got the lobster pasta dish for his entree. The lobster was overcooked, was served cold and the whole thing had no flavor. I got the pork belly pasta entree. It was over salted and the pork belly was super dry. I took two bites and was done. It truly saddens me that this place isn't what it used to be. I won't...
Read moreThis thanksgiving we decided to eat out, since my father just passed away few days back. My husband and I just wanted to enjoy a nice comforting thanksgiving meal. We were the first customers arriving at noon at the restaurant. The hostess took us to the inner back dark room in the restaurant and seated us in a corner small table. We were a little puzzled since the whole main dining area was empty. It was advertised as 7 course meal. we were also wondering how everything will fit on the small table. There was hardly any room for glasses for wine pairing; it was uncomfortably tight. Our waitress was professional and friendly. The food came with good portions; however quality was just ok. Salad was plain, turkey leg & rib were delicious; turkey breast was salty; side dishes were not great. The atmosphere was terrible! The back room where we sat was also where the workers come in to sign in for work? We happened to be the only customers sitting in that room, which made us wonder if the fact that we were the only minority was a factor, since the later arrived patrons all sat in the main brightly lit dining area. We paid $400 for a lunch for 2 for a very unhappy...
