ETA: Took my extended family here over the weekend. We had a fantastic lunch for 15 people. Everyone found something they liked. I myself got the chicken fried steak meal. What a great value! Salad, soup, CFSteak, mashed potatoes and gravy, plus a scone. All for $15 something. Portions were large. I could barely finish, and the only reason I did was I saved the scone til last. I could leave the scone uneaten. Already looking forward to the next visit. I have a confession to make. I grew up in Heber, but hadn't been to Chick's in many years. My wife had never been. So when I had a chance to stop by and introduce her, I took it. It was a nostalgic step back in time. The place hadn't changed much over the years. When she asked what was good, the only things I could remember were chicken fried steak and scones 🙂. These favorites were still there! But, we were at lunch so yes on the scones, but no on the CFS. My wife had fish and chips with scone and I had a burger with salad. The food was very good. However, the nostalgia didn't end with the food... I recalled the lazy care free days off my youth as we waited and waited, first for service then for the food itself. It took the two of us 70 minutes to eat lunch. That's probably how a breezy easy lunch still goes in Heber. Like stopping for coffee on a Saturday morning just to "shoot the bull." They weren't especially busy, just leisurely. We'd go back again for the good food, but we'll plan on taking a chunk of our afternoon as well. If you order nothing else, get the scone. It was everybit as good as I remembered.

What a great adventure this was! It is a fun store and has a fun experience as you walk into the store! Check out my picture and then you will understand. Was it intentional to put the Chicks Diner next to the Dicks barber shop? Chicks and Dicks😂. So which one came first? 🤔😁 Check out my pictures for that. Anyways this was a good restaurant. Not our favorite but they do have a few good pros. They had great portions, most of our food came out hot, they had a great environment, and great service. I really liked their clam chowder soup. They did a great job, but if you want something above and beyond you can check out Back 40 Ranch. You can see in the pictures that presentation was better and coming from me the soup was just better. Some things they could work on would be serving all the food warm, the chicken fried steak was tough, there are few amounts of parking spots available, and the tarter cause could use more pickles. The scone was tough, and it could use honey butter. Anyways good place to eat but could use a few improvements.

We were driving home after a day of exploring, wager to find a diner and a burger. Chick's was open and served us with 20 minutes to spare before closing. The service was great- the young man was quick and kind to my children, and I think you learn a lot about people by how they treat kids. The food was good. I particularly enjoyed my scone (yum!). My initial impression wasn't great as the floor was messy, some of the tables were dirty as though not bussed thoroughly, and the trash can in the bathroom was overflowing and soap was empty, but I'm confident those things were because we popped in just before they closed on a Sunday night. Overall it was a nice experience with good food and service and they didn't seem put out that we came in so close to closing, which I appreciated as a hungry diner and as two other diners we'd tried before finding Chick's were already closed. I would return.

I gave it one star because the food IS edible. It’s not as good as we hoped for seeing as it looked like a hometown original type place, which I’m sure it is. There are no frills or local item as of interest aside from the old menus. Not much has changed in that department except the prices. We sat at the bar and had a mediocre experience with the wait staff. They were not rude, but service was slow and when the food arrived, we were very unimpressed. My husband ordered chicken fried steak (he’s from Idaho and has some experience with this dish) with a salad. The salad was the typical mix of iceberg lettuce with shredded carrots and ranch dressing. The salad had some very sad looking brown bits and the dressing appeared and tasted more like a grainy mayo (it was a bit liquidy around the edges). I noticed our food was taking a while and I looked back at the kitchen window and saw that my scone and my husbands order were in the window. It was not busy, but it still took about 10 min to get to us. The scone tasted like a deep fried biscuit mix. It was dense. Everything on the chicken fried steak plate was brown- including the green beans. It was sad. Sorry I didn’t document with photos. I didn’t think I would be writing a review, but after tasting that food, I felt like I should send out a warning. Sorry local business, Chicks Cafe. The food was just...

In 2023, my wife and I visited this café in Heber, excited to try something new. We were seated, but shortly after, the manager came over and told us we had to leave because of my service dog. I calmly explained that I’ve had a service dog since 2009, after separating from the military. My service animal is trained to alert me to medical episodes and is essential to my safety and independence. I even showed DOT documentation proving his status.

Despite this, the manager claimed the health department would shut them down if the dog remained. That is simply not accurate — under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals are legally allowed in public spaces, including restaurants.

My wife and I were humiliated. We quietly left, trying not to make a scene. I contacted the county health department afterward and spoke to someone who agreed I shouldn’t have been asked to leave. She said she knew the owner and would follow up. Two years later, I’ve still heard nothing.

This review isn’t meant to shame the business, but to raise awareness. Discrimination against individuals with disabilities — including veterans like myself — is unacceptable and illegal. I hope the owners take steps to educate their team and ensure others aren’t treated...
