Incredibly disappointing. Giving two stars because the staff was helpful and friendly in securing our reservation and because our server was attentive and did his best. The rest is just bad.
We came for Christmas Eve dinner. There was nothing, not one thing that was great about the food or the kitchen's performance. There were some things that were competent and that's as good as it got, sadly.
Details: Starters... Party of 4. 2 French onion soups. The other 2 of us wanted to split the wedge. The kitchen was "too overloaded" to split it for us so they offered us an extra plate. I thought that was lazy and tacky. I understand it's not Golden Steer or Peter Luger but it's also not Denny's. Our reservation was for 5:15 and the restaurant was about 1/4 full at the time. The soups were "fine" according to the two who ordered them. The wedge had literally 2 candied pecans, 2 grape tomatoes, almost no dressing, 5 or 6 bleu cheese crumbles, a ton of shaved red onion and that was that. It had potential but it was pretty sad as it was.
Mains took forever to arrive, to the point that our server came to tell us they were working on it more than once, even sharing there were â7 tickets ahead of usâ at one point. The restaurant was NOT at capacity at this point, though much busier than when weâd arrived.
Mains: 1 crab legs, 1 burger, 1 9 oz filet, 1 halibut. The halibut was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen served. IT COULD NOT BE CUT WITH A KNIFE. It had to be sawed and once it was sawed, it was a stringy, overcooked disaster. Inedible. And not just because it was unchewable. I'm not sure what they could have possible done to it to achieve such a mess but my imagination leads me to think it had been cooked and recooked several times over the course of days for this extraordinarily horrific texture to be achieved. We sent it back (I don't love doing that at restaurants but this was absolutely gross and simply had to be sent back). They sent a new piece of halibut and it was somehow worse than the first, which I didn't think was possible. It was an absolute brick. We sent that back too and just gave up on ordering something else for the person who ordered it because the rest of the entrees were honestly not that great and we had almost no confidence in ordering something else. The filet was cooked to the right temp which was a relief (medium plus) but it was of fair quality. Bearnaise sauce was absolutely nasty. It tasted like French's yellow mustard and white vinegar and looked like that too. Crab legs were described as "ok at best." Hamburger was... not good. French fries were described as "fine." We ordered scalloped potatoes on the reco of the server. They were greasy and heavy handed. Ratios were off. A lot of cheese and oil and just not balanced. Creamed corn had absolutely ZERO flavor. Even after adding salt they were as bland as can be.
Our server was apologetic about the halibut and said the kitchen wanted to buy us a dessert for the trouble. A nice gesture but when something as bad as that gets served, a manager needs to address it with the table. I would never give this restaurant a second chance based on that alone because it shows a systemic lack of service protocol. How can you put a plate as embarrassing as that on the table and fail to address it? Lame. We weren't going to even accept the dessert because we were all pretty over it at that point...but one of us convinced the rest to order a couple of desserts. The one on the house and one other. They were the best thing we had by a lot but they were not incredible, either. The chocolate soufflé was actually good and so was the chocolate macadamia cake. We all found the desserts to be surprisingly competent based on all the other items.
This is a one and done and my suggestion to anyone who has actually made it to the end of this TL;DR is to pay the difference between a $$$ and a $$$$ steakhouse and go to Hank's at Green Valley Ranch or Prime 141 in Southern Highlands instead. Super...
Read moreFirst, the food. I would say this is maybe three stars. A previous review said that if this were like a 50 or $60 experience, they wouldâve been happy and I agree. The lobsters were well cooked but extremely salty. The lamb as many other reviews have said is juicy but lacked flavor. The beef Wellington was fine. No one went for seconds. The prime rib was pretty solid, but After one slice youâre good on that. The sides were mostly unremarkable with the exception of the. Potatoes au gratin.
Our server was terrible. We ended up busing our table multiple times ourselves. We would order basic drinks and they would just not come. If we asked the adjunct server/bus boy he was awesome and eventually we get our stuff. The actual server, though wouldâve been under performance review, even at an Applebeeâs.
Then, of course, came the food poisoning. My husband has a gluten allergy and called ahead to make sure that this would be all right for him. As he went through the different stations, he followed all the instructions. He asked a staff member about the desserts and which would be gluten-free and was directed to these two specific items. And it turns out one of them was chock full of cake that was most certainly not gluten-free. Over the course of three different interactions with management and their security filling out a food illness report, our experience just got worse and worse. There was no concerted effort to improve the situation. Management said that they wanted to âClarifyâ things which was nonsense because they basically brought the staff member over who said â hey actually I never told you that one was gluten-free, I said there are desserts over on that tableâ (??!) they had no ideas for anything they couldâve done to improve the situation like they couldâve offered to make a gluten-free, beautiful plated dessert for him a fruit or something just as a gesture. Or they could have comped some portion of the check. They did nothing even when we brought it up. I was especially pissed after they brought the staff member around in the third interaction. I was happier after the first interaction then it was the third because at least they sounded like they actually cared and weâre trying to get to the bottom of it. Bringing the staff member around was definitely a CYA move because they said hey sorry but actually what they meant was hey, Iâm coming over here to tell you a different version of events. And when I called them on it to having this interaction, wasnât gonna serve any productive purpose. I got some nonsensical answer, which was â I brought the staff member over so that we could clarify things because I is the manager have to fill out some sort of food ill illness, report issueâ. That makes no sense because if he needs to get all the information to clarify, he can perfectly talk to his own staff and leave us out of it. Instead, what became a hey this sucks for us and this is what happened at your restaurant five minute negative thing then became a 20 minute thing where we had to wait for security to fill out a food illness report and have them parade out there staff member who was Iâm not sure what they meant for it to certainly not meant to make us feel better about the situation, but meant to make them feel better about the situation?
Now we have to scuttle our plans for the next 1.5-2 days while my husband barfs and has major indigestion. Truly a fine dining experience without peer.
Would be a 2.5-3 star experience without the food poisoning. Iâd give negative stars if I could given all that...
Read moreFirst and definitely not my last time here. The food was amazing. The 9 ounce fillet mignon was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The 10 ounce roasted lobster tail coupled with the creamed spinach complemented the overall meal. The dining area is very upscale with decor to match. Itâs spacious and can accommodate large groups. There are several windows which, allows guests to enjoy a view with their meal. Our server Fabio was friendly and truly understood the importance of providing good customer service. I will definitely be back. I should also mention that on Sundayâs thereâs a brunch, which, includes all you can eat lobster tails and crab legs among other items. Itâs extremely popular and reservations are a âMUST.â However, unless youâve been lucky enough to get a reservation you might need to wait until âJanuary 2024.â As of today, 5/21/23, nothings available until then (No walk-ins). Iâll be reviewing the brunch this Sunday and will be posting a review.
As promised, here is my review of the Sunday Brunch Buffet at the M Casino.
If youâre looking for an AYCE Sunday Brunch with Lobster, Crab, Shrimp, Sudhi and a host of other items this is the place. The lobsters are very flavorful, cooked and seasoned well. There is an abundance of crab legs as well as colossal shrimp that are also flavorful. The crusted lamb, roast beef and beef wellington were among the meat dishes. All tasted great but I found the beef wellington slightly overcooked. Thereâs also breakfast items available which, includes, french toast, bacon, eggs benedict and omelettes made fresh. The dining area for the steak house serves as the seating area for the buffet allowing for ample space. There is outdoor seating available overlooking the pool and the casino property. The servers did a great job ensuring the food trays remained full and the dirty plates were removed from the tables. The staff was very personable and friendly while demonstrating good customer service. Unlike other buffets the atmosphere here is a bit subdued but very much welcomed. The food lines arenât long and the dining area is not overly crowded allowing for guests to walk around without having to be concerned with bumping into someone while carrying plates of food. The fact that reservations are required limits the number of guests, thus decreasing the amount of foot traffic in the dining area and buffet lines. It also allows for a more enjoyable and relaxed environment. With that, two questions remain. Was the Sunday Brunch worth the money and would I recommend it. The answer to both is, yes. The quality of the food coupled with the myriad of choices lends itself to a visit. So, it gets my recommendation. Lastly, I did learn that the buffet is now booked until September...
