This place surprised us. So we walk in and the decor is super fancy. Feels like dining at a restaurant on the Strip. I honestly felt underdressed for the place with shorts and a T-shirt. All of the staff are clean-cut and attentive. I could tell from this alone that the prices wouldn't be cheap which was confirmed when we got the menu. Not going to lie, it put us off at first as well as the fact that chips and salsa are not free. Keep this in mind if you go here. Our attitudes turned around real quick when our queso fundido came out. It was the best we've had and, had a nice crust at the bottom, and the tortillas were clearly homemade. We were waiting in anticipation for our chicken and fish tacos after that. They ended up using the same fantastic shells for the tacos. This makes us wonder if there's something special about the chips that make them worth the surcharge. The tacos were one of the lesser expensive items on the menu and the price matches that of other restaurants. Most of the other entrees, you'll be spending in the $20s or beyond. The fish tacos are downright phenomenal. They came with rice and whole black beans. I prefer refried, but you may like them whole. Our churros for dessert were fantastic and came with two tasty dipping sauces. I love the convenience of using a QR code on the receipt to pay with your phone. We still let the waiter know we paid before we left. We're coming back for my birthday. Be prepared to spend extra here, but I think...
Read moreWe went looking for innovative Mexican food. Like the chef took inspiration from traditional dishes and got inspired. What the chef did was make the same old Mexican food that you can get basically anywhere incredibly well. We started with Guacamole - great Queso Fundido with chorizo - great Chips and salsa - really kind of a rip off as we got 3 ups and I counted. They brought us 7 chips each. I asked for more 3 times and finally they got the hint. The salsas are sauces like you'd expect in a bottle. Don't pay for them. Caesar Salad - I was excited by this as many people don't know this salad originated in Tijuana. - it tasted like crunchy dirt. No idea but four people tried it and one almost gagged.
Mains Street tacos beef - asked for rare got well done. Person said they were good but not like $22 good. Two tacos with beans and rice.
Gigantic beef burrito - best deal of the 4 because the leftovers mean you paid $26 for 2 burritos. Again delicious.
Chile Rellano - person loved it I thought it was a Chile rellano with red sauce. Good.
Chicken enchiladas - actually if you know your Mexican food they were enchiladas Suisas. Tomatillo sauce was very smooth and not to tart. Hardly any spice for the over 60's. Chicken tender and served New Mexico style which is flat.
Mole..
Service sucked. Sorry but not friendly and we asked for water a thousand times.
Oh.. cucumber margarita was great.
Go if you want but basically it's just another...
Read morehad dinner here last night... they were busy on a sunday night...
place is nice and clean but not remotely mexican... its dark inside & they had football playing on tvs spaced every 20'...
at these prices, why am I in a sportsbar?
wife ordered the mahi mahi tacos ($22) & they were just ok... she also had a $22 cocktail (but they don't do frozen margaritas, which just seems lazy)... seriously, for $22 per drink, they could afford a blender...
steak fajitas ($34) also were just ok... they give you a ton of onions and not much steak, and the meat is good but not amazing... no cheese, no salsa, and you have to order the guacamole ($15) separately...
guacamole was the best thing on the table, but at $15 it should be...
sides of black beans and rice were no better than from a bag or box...
chips also just ok... menu says the corn tortillas are homemade... the flour tortillas are obviously not, and they were not great...
neither of us would order the same meal again...
servers came around too often, but were cordial & trying...
it's actually an awful lot like getting disappointing and overpriced food at a casino, but without the crowd... straight up, I prefer lindo michowhatever...
anyhow, we expect this place to fail like everything else that sets up in this particular strip mall... its just hard to justify driving out of your way to get here, and the locals already have plenty...
