Wow, this past Friday we went to Cantina Tequila at Green Valley in Henderson, where a sensory explosion awaits at every turn. This vibrant restaurant is a feast for the eyes and taste buds, offering an unforgettable dining experience that blends Mexican flair with artistic extravagance.
As soon as we walked in we were greeted by an impressive display of ceiling and wall art that immediately captured our attention. The hostess desk was beautifully adorned with Milagros or “sacred hearts”, and wonderful pieces of Mexican Folk art. The hostesses were dressed in lovely outfits with colorful flowers in their hair, and their friendliness and service was outstanding. I want to give a special shout-out to Faith, Jade and Lynette, WOW. I had made a huge mistake and my reservation was for the time I arrived but for a different day. I was devastated because I had out of town visitors and was terribly embarrassed. I asked if there was anything they could do (fearful it wouldn’t be possible because they were slammed). It took a few minutes but they found a way! They were so graceful and accommodating, I will never forget this. These young women deserve a big THANK YOU!
As we walked towards our table we were in awe of the magnificent decor, one particular masterpiece that stood out was a stunning rendering of the legendary Walter Mercado, the renowned astrologer and television personality. This larger-than-life portrayal served as the restaurant's centerpiece, an ode to Mercado's captivating charisma and the lively ambiance that permeates the place.
The bar area is an attraction in itself, beckoning patrons with its cool and stylish design. The most striking feature of the bar is an impressive wall adorned with caged spirits, creating a unique and visually arresting display. Beyond the decor, the service at Cantina Tequila is second to none. Rina (our waitress) was not only attentive and welcoming but also went above and beyond to ensure we had memorable experience. She was magnificent.
In this place even the bathrooms are cool, playful and fun. The restroom area continues the theme of artistic indulgence with painted art of famous Latin personalities like Charo and Pedro Pascal. Also in the hallway on the way to the bathroom you'll find an original Walter Mercado cape on display. It's not every day you get to admire such a unique piece of pop culture history.
Now, let's talk about the food and drinks. Their culinary offerings are a celebration of Mexican cuisine prepared with passion and finesse. From traditional favorites like tacos, enchiladas, and fajitas to contemporary interpretations of regional dishes, every plate bursts with flavor and freshness. We ordered the guacamole to start, and for our entrees fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and the California burrito with Mexican rice, all so delicious. And, of course, no visit to Cantina Tequila is complete without trying one of their famous margaritas—which are massive and deliciously refreshing.
Overall Cantina Tequila is more than just a restaurant; it's an artistic journey that delights the senses at every step. From the awe-inspiring wall art and ambiance, the amazing service, food and cocktails, this is a must visit and definitely a...
Read moreAbsolutely stunning decor and even better food and drinks - all the way down to the complimentary chips and salsa.
I highly recommend the flavored Margaritas, which offer you the choice of salted, sugared, or tajin rims. The chips and salsa are refillable and the red salsa was also the best I've had in any restaurant. And of course, water is complimentary and brought to the table when you sit down - which is amazing in this Vegas heat.
The decorations for the place were beautiful and gorgeously themed, as well as visibly clean and kept. There is beautiful art and cute little kitch displays that are fun and colorful, including a little mechanical pair of low rider El Camino that bounce every now and again behind the bar near a tv screen that shows an array of beautiful images of Aztec architecture and art blended with beautiful colors and imagery that fit the rest of the decor. Clusters of flowers hang from the ceiling and walls, making it feel like walking down a festive alleyway. The tables are decoupaged with cards and pamphlets, colored paper and confetti, which gives a bright, joyful feeling to the room that is only matched by the fantastic service and attentive staff.
We got the elote for our appetizer and let me tell you, it is some of the best elote I've ever had. It's off the cob for convenience of sharing with the table and has a huge kick of flavor. Sweet corn, a spiced mayo with a nice kick, and salty cheese. It's worth going back just for the elote alone, honestly. Definitely grab some if you get the chance to go.
Down to the entrees, we got the Cantina Burrito with Carnitas, which was incredible. Big portion size - especially for the price. Great bang for your buck, especially with the salsa; and the barria tacos, which were well cooked and flavorful with tons of cheese and seasoned shredded beef. The corn tortillas were soft and tender and had a hint of sweetness to cut the through all that savory goodness.
Definitely a great place to take the family, a date, or a small party. Great drinks, incredible food, and amazing service. There is some spice to the food, but plenty of options without the heat for those a little more sensitive to it, as well as vegan and vegetarian options. All in all a great experience and we will be...
Read moreStep right up, foodies and adventurers, because let’s talk about a Vegas tale. Imagine this: we arrive at Cantina Tequila, and from the moment we step through the door, it's a whirlwind of lively music and infectious laughter. But hold on tight, because the real magic is about to unfold inside. We kicked off our evening with a lively half-hour at the bar, and let me tell you, those bartenders know how to whip up a storm in a glass. 🍸 The "Oaxcan Old Fashioned" was a masterpiece in itself, and the "Queso Fondido & Elote" were like flavor fireworks in our mouths! Now, here's where the plot thickens. I had my heart set on the "Mar y Tierra," dreaming of that succulent lobster. Alas, fate had other plans, and they ran out of lobster. 😔 But wait, the head chef himself stepped in, offering extra jumbo prawns. Crisis averted, taste buds saved! Meanwhile, my partner in crime went for the "Fajitas Deliciosas," expecting a sizzling show. Unfortunately, it arrived just lukewarm, but we're not the kind to cause a scene. Our server, though, called in the manager, who handled the situation with grace and charm. They promised us a discount for the hiccups... and here's the kicker, folks – a measly $7 off the bill! 😅 And to add salt to the wound, they charged me full price for my $65 meal, lobster-less and all. 😤 Let's talk food, shall we? It wasn't a disappointment by any means, but it didn't quite reach the dizzying heights of our expectations. However, the real stars of this show are the atmosphere and the staff. They wrap you in a warm embrace, making you feel like you've just joined their family. We're definitely giving Cantina Tequila another whirl on our next Vegas rendezvous, crossing our fingers for a smoother ride. Oh, and did I mention the Elote? It was a little slice of heaven, and that queso fondido – oh, the cheese! And let's not forget about the ambiance – it's like a scene straight out of Coco and Book of Life, brought to life! Minus the cartoony look lol. Roses gracefully dropping from the ceiling – it's an Instagram dream come true. So, fellow food explorers, if you find yourself in Vegas seeking more than just a meal, Cantina Tequila is your ticket to a delightful adventure. Come for the vibe, stay for the family, and cross your fingers...
